Provérbios 16:33 conclui o capítulo com uma declaração final da soberania divina: As sortes deitam-se no regaço, mas de Jeová procede toda a sua disposição (v. 33). No mundo antigo, lançar sortes era uma forma de tomar decisões em assuntos que transcendiam a resolução humana comum.
Mesmo ali, no que pode parecer aleatório, Salomão diz que cada decisão vem do SENHOR. O domínio de Deus se estende além do que nos parece acidental. O acaso não é definitivo. O Senhor governa até mesmo os resultados que os humanos não podem prever.
Este final se encaixa perfeitamente em todo o capítulo. Os seres humanos planejam, falam, ponderam, trabalham, julgam e decidem, mas acima e através de tudo isso, Deus permanece o soberano governante. A sabedoria, portanto, reside tanto na responsabilidade quanto na entrega: agimos com fidelidade, mas confiamos no Senhor quanto aos resultados.
