Outro ditado que demonstra um exemplo de "uma coisa melhor que a outra" vem a seguir: Melhor é o pouco com justiça do que grandes rendas com injustiça (v. 8). Provérbios 16:8 ataca a falsa premissa de que a quantidade, por si só, determina o sucesso.
O pouco com justiça é melhor, porque a justiça proporciona paz moral, integridade e alinhamento com o plano de Deus. Algo que é modesto exteriormente pode ser rico interiormente, se estiver unido à verdade. Provérbios repetidamente desfaz a ilusão de que a abundância sem ordem moral pode realmente satisfazer.
Em contrapartida, a grande renda proveniente da injustiça carrega consigo a corrupção. A renda pode ser vultosa, mas está contaminada pela forma como é obtida ou utilizada. Isso corrobora o tema recorrente em Provérbios de que os recursos são neutros, mas se tornam bênção ou perigo dependendo de como são administrados com sabedoria.
