Aqui, em Provérbios 17:9, Salomão retorna à saúde dos relacionamentos: Quem encobre a transgressão busca o amor; mas quem a faz lembrar, separa amigos íntimos (v. 9). O amor sabe lidar com a ofensa sem que ela recomece indefinidamente.
Ocultar uma transgressão não significa encobrir uma injustiça ou fingir que o pecado é bom. Significa se recusar a divulgar cada erro por causa da humilhação ou de conflitos intermináveis. O amor busca a restauração sempre que possível. Ele está disposto a absorver em vez de expor indefinidamente.
Mas quem repete um assunto só alimenta o que já deveria ter sido resolvido, e com isso acaba afastando amigos íntimos. Fofocas, ressentimentos antigos e ofensas repetidas envenenam a intimidade. A sabedoria sabe quando falar para curar e quando deixar a misericórdia curar uma ferida.
