Um irmão ofendido é mais difícil de conquistar do que uma cidade forte, porque a proximidade intensifica a mágoa. Quanto mais próximo o relacionamento, mais profunda pode ser a ferida. Laços familiares, uma vez rompidos, podem se fortalecer com a dor, a defensiva e as mágoas antigas.
Assim, as contendas são como as grades de um castelo. O conflito pode separar as pessoas. Este provérbio não diz que a reconciliação é impossível, mas mostra a gravidade da ofensa relacional. A sabedoria, portanto, nos aconselha a ter muito cuidado em como tratamos aqueles que nos são mais próximos.
