A morte e a vida estão ambas no poder da língua, pois as palavras podem ferir, corromper, enganar, dividir e destruir ou curar, ensinar, encorajar, reconciliar e guiar. A fala pode levar as pessoas à ruína ou fornecer nutrientes rumo à vida. É um dos principais instrumentos pelos quais o coração influencia o mundo.
Quem gosta da língua comerá dos seus frutos. Se dependermos muito da fala, também experimentaremos as consequências que ela produz. O provérbio é ao mesmo tempo um aviso e um convite: use a língua com sabedoria, pois seus frutos são reais e muitas vezes duradouros.
