Provérbios 19:10 destaca o que é apropriado: O luxo não convém ao tolo, muito menos, ao servo, dominar os príncipes (v. 10). Algumas formas de ostentação exterior tornam-se distorções quando não aliadas à sabedoria e à ordem.
O luxo não convém a um tolo, pois a insensatez carece da estrutura moral necessária para administrar bem a abundância. Conforto, poder ou riqueza nas mãos da insensatez muitas vezes se tornam aceleradores da autodestruição. Os recursos não são maus em si mesmos, mas são perigosos quando desconectados da sabedoria.
O segundo verso reforça a ideia ao mostrar uma inversão ainda maior: um escravo para governar príncipes. A questão não é o valor humano, mas a desordem. Quando os papéis são invertidos sem sabedoria, o resultado é a instabilidade. O provérbio trata de aptidão e ordem moral, não de mero status.
