Provérbios 19:26 menciona um pecado familiar profundamente vergonhoso: Aquele que aflige a seu pai e faz fugir a sua mãe é filho que causa vergonha e desonra (v. 26). O lar, que deveria ser um lugar de honra e cuidado, é violado por tal comportamento.
Agredir um pai ou expulsar uma mãe não é apenas um abuso, mas uma grave inversão do plano de Deus para a família. Os pais devem ser honrados, não atacados. O provérbio pressupõe o horror moral de explorar ou abandonar aqueles a quem se deve gratidão e respeito.
Por isso, tal pessoa é chamada de vergonhosa e desonrosa. A insensatez aqui não se resume à imaturidade, mas à profunda corrupção moral. Este versículo mostra até onde o caminho da maldade pode levar alguém quando a honra é substituída pela violência egoísta.
