Uma imagem impactante da vida interior aparece em Provérbios 20:27: O espírito do homem é a lâmpada de Jeová, a qual esquadrinha todas as câmaras secretas da alma (v. 27). O versículo volta-se para o interior e revela quão profundamente Deus observa.
O espírito do homem é a vida interior de uma pessoa, e Salomão o descreve como uma lâmpada de Jeová, a lâmpada pertence a Deus. Ele a carrega e a usa para olhar para dentro da pessoa que a carrega.
Assim, Ele esquadrinha todas as câmaras secretas da alma. Há compartimentos em uma pessoa aos quais ninguém mais tem acesso, incluindo, muitas vezes, a própria pessoa. Não há compartimentos no homem que sejam obscuros para Deus. Hebreus 4:13 reforça essa ideia: nada na criação está oculto aos Seus olhos.
