O contraste entre dois tipos de planos aparece em Provérbios 21:5: Os planos do diligente conduzem à abundância, mas todo precipitado apressa-se para a penúria (v. 5). O contraste não é entre planejamento e a falta dele. Tanto o diligente quanto o precipitado têm planos.
O contraste reside entre o tipo e a execução dos planos dos diligentes, que são firmes, ponderados e executados com paciência, e os planos dos precipitados, que buscam atalhos e retornos rápidos. Provérbios tem sido consistente nesse ponto: a riqueza conquistada lentamente por meio de trabalho honesto tende a durar; a riqueza buscada às pressas tende a evaporar (Provérbios 13:11; 20:21; 28:20).
O versículo nos lembra que a diligência não é apenas uma virtude, mas também uma estratégia.
