Died: April 23, 1969, Alexandria, Virginia.
Bowie attended Harvard University, where he earned his (BA, Phi Beta Kappa, 1904; MA 1905). In 1908, he received a BD degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary, and in 1909 he was ordained an Episcopal priest. He served as a hospital chaplain in France in World War I. In 1939, he became Professor of Practical Theology at Union Theological Seminary.
