Son of a saddler, Löwenstern distinguished himself musically at an early age. Duke Heinrich Wenzel appointed him as his music director and treasurer at Bernstadt in 1625; in 1626 as director of the school at Bernstadt; and in 1631 as Rath and Secretary, and Director of Finance. Thereafter Löwenstern entered the service of Emperors Ferdinand II and Ferdinand III (the latter granted him noble title). Finally, Löwenstern became Staatsrath at Oels to Duke Carl Friedrich of Münsterberg. He wrote about 30 hymns in his lifetime.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
