Andrew L. Skoog (1856-1934) Born: December 17, 1856, Varmland, Sweden.

Died: October 30, 1934, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Buried: Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Skoog emigrated to America in 1869. After a few years, his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he was a church music director, and taught in a parochial school.

From 1891-1896, Skoog served on the City Council in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also edited and published Veckobladet, a Swedish language paper, and served as church or­­gan­­ist, choir di­­rect­­or, and Sun­­day school di­­rect­­or. He ed­­it­­ed sev­­en hymnals, in­­clud­­ing The Covenant Hymnal, and wrote over 300 hymns and anthems.
