“I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me;

Let me know why You contend with me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:8 -

‘Your hands fashioned and made me [fn]altogether,

Yet would You destroy me?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:9 -

‘Remember that You have made me as clay;

Yet would You turn me into dust again?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:10 -

‘Did You not pour me out like milk,

And curdle me like cheese,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:11 -

Clothe me with skin and flesh,

And intertwine me with bones and tendons?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:14 -

If I have sinned, You will take note of me,

And will not acquit me of my guilt.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:16 -

‘And should my head be high, You would hunt me like a lion;

And You would show Your power against me again.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:18 -

‘Why then did You bring me out of the womb?

If only I had died and no eye had seen me!

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:20 -

“Would He not leave my few days alone?

[fn]Withdraw from me so that I may have a little cheerfulness

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 10:21 -

Before I go—and I shall not return

To the land of darkness and deep shadow,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 13:15 -

“Though He slay me,

I will [fn]hope in Him.

Nevertheless I will argue my ways [fn]before Him.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 13:21 -

Remove Your [fn]hand from me,

And may the dread of You not terrify me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 13:23 -

“How many are my guilty deeds and sins?

Make known to me my wrongdoing and my sin.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 13:24 -

“Why do You hide Your face

And consider me Your enemy?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 14:13 -

“Oh that You would hide me in [fn]Sheol,

That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You,

That You would set a limit for me and remember me!

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:7 -

“But now He has exhausted me;

You have laid waste all my group of loved ones.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:9 -

“His anger has torn me and [fn]hunted me down,

He has gnashed at me with His teeth;

My enemy [fn]glares at me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:10 -

“They have gaped at me with their mouths,

They have [fn]slapped me on the cheek with contempt;

They have massed themselves against me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:11 -

“God hands me over to criminals,

And tosses me into the hands of the wicked.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:12 -

“I was at ease, but He shattered me,

And He has grasped me by my neck and shaken me to pieces;

He has also set me up as His target.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:13 -

“His arrows surround me.

He splits my kidneys open without mercy;

He pours out my bile on the ground.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 16:14 -

“He breaks through me with breach after breach;

He runs at me like a warrior.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 17:6 -

“But He has made me a proverb among the people,

And I am [fn]one at whom people spit.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:2 -

“How long will you torment [fn]me

And crush me with words?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:3 -

“These ten times you have insulted me;

You are not ashamed to wrong me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:10 -

“He breaks me down on every side, and I am gone;

And He has uprooted my hope like a tree.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:11 -

“He has also kindled His anger against me

And considered me as His enemy.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:12 -

“His troops come together

And build up their [fn]way against me

And camp around my tent.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:14 -

“My relatives have failed,

And my close friends have forgotten me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:18 -

“Even young children despise me;

I stand up and they speak against me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:19 -

“All [fn]my associates loathe me,

And those I love have turned against me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:21 -

“Pity me, pity me, you friends of mine,

For the hand of God has struck me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:22 -

“Why do you persecute me as God does,

And are not satisfied with my flesh?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 19:25 -

“Yet as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,

And at the last, He will take His stand on the [fn]earth.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 21:3 -

“Bear with me that I may speak;

Then after I have spoken, you may mock me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 21:34 -

“So how dare you give me empty comfort?

For your answers remain nothing but falsehood!”

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 23:10 -

“But He knows the [fn]way I take;

When He has put me to the test, I will come out as gold.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 23:16 -

It is God who has made my heart faint,

And the Almighty who has terrified me,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 24:15 -

“The eye of the adulterer watches for [fn]twilight,

Saying, ‘No eye will see me.'

And he [fn]disguises his face.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 24:25 -

“Now if it is not so, who can prove me a liar,

And make my speech worthless?”

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 27:2 -

“As God lives, who has taken away my right,

And the Almighty, who has embittered my soul,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 29:2 -

“Oh that I were as in months gone by,

As in the days when God watched over me;

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 29:8 -

The young men saw me and hid themselves,

And the old men arose and stood.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 29:10 -

The voices of the prominent people were [fn]hushed,

And their tongues stuck to their palates.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 29:11 -

“For when an ear heard, it called me blessed,

And when an eye saw, it testified in support of me,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 29:13 -

“The blessing of the one who was about to perish came upon me,

And I made the widow's heart sing for joy.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:1 -

“But now those who are younger than I mock me,

Whose fathers I refused to put with the dogs of my flock.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:10 -

“They loathe me and stand aloof from me,

And they do not [fn]refrain from spitting in my face.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:11 -

“Because He has undone [fn]my [fn]bowstring and afflicted me,

They have cast off the bridle before me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:14 -

“As through a wide gap they come,

[fn]Amid the storm they roll on.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:16 -

“And now my soul is poured out [fn]within me;

Days of misery have seized me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:18 -

“By a great force my garment is distorted;

It ties me up like the collar of my coat.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:19 -

“He has thrown me into the mire,

And I have become like dust and ashes.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:20 -

“I cry out to You for help, but You do not answer me;

I stand up, and You turn Your attention against me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:21 -

“You have [fn]become cruel to me;

With the strength of Your hand You persecute me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:22 -

“You lift me up to the wind and make me ride it;

And You dissolve me in a storm.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:23 -

“For I know that You will bring me to death,

And to the house of meeting for all living.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 30:27 -

[fn]I am seething within and cannot rest;

Days of misery confront me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 31:6 -

Let Him weigh me with [fn]accurate scales,

And let God know my integrity.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 31:13 -

“If I have rejected the claim of my male or female slaves

When they filed a complaint against me,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 31:20 -

If his waist has not [fn]thanked me,

And if he has not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 31:23 -

“For disaster from God is a terror to me,

And because of His majesty I can do nothing.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 32:18 -

“For I am full of words;

The spirit within me compels me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 33:4 -

“The Spirit of God has made me,

And the breath of [fn]the Almighty gives me life.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 33:10 -

‘Behold, He [fn]invents [fn]criticisms against me;

He counts me as His enemy.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 33:27 -

“He will sing to people and say,

‘I have sinned and perverted what is right,

And it is not proper for me.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 35:10 -

“But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker,

Who gives songs in the night,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 35:11 -

Who teaches us more than the animals of the earth

And makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?'

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 35:14 -

“How much less when you say you do not look at Him,

The case is before Him, and you must wait for Him!

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 36:2 -

“Wait for me a little, and I will show you

That there [fn]is still more to be said on God's behalf.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 37:19 -

“Teach us what we are to say to Him;

We cannot present our case because of darkness.

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 38:2 -

“Who is this who darkens the divine plan

By words without knowledge?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 38:4 -

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?

Tell Me, if you [fn]have understanding,

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 38:7 -

When the morning stars sang together

And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 38:20 -

That you would take it to its territory,

And discern the paths to its [fn]home?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 40:8 -

“Will you really nullify My judgment?

Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

Unchecked Copy BoxJob 42:4 -

‘Please listen, and I will speak;

I will ask You, and You instruct me.'

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 2:7 -

“I will announce the [fn]decree of the LORD:

He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,

Today I have fathered You.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 3:1 -

A Psalm of David, when [fn]he fled from his son Absalom.

LORD, how my enemies have increased!

Many are rising up against me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 3:7 -

Arise, LORD; save me, my God!

For You [fn]have struck all my enemies on the [fn]cheek;

You [fn]have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 4:1 -

[fn]For the music director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

Answer me when I call, God [fn]of my righteousness!

You have [fn]relieved me in my distress;

Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 4:3 -

But know that the LORD has [fn]set apart the godly person for Himself;

The LORD hears when I call to Him.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 4:8 -

In peace I will [fn]both lie down and sleep,

For You alone, LORD, have me dwell in safety.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 5:8 -

LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my enemies;

Make Your way [fn]straight before me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 6:1 -

For the music director; with stringed instruments, [fn]upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David.

LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,

Nor discipline me in Your wrath.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 6:2 -

Heal me, LORD, for my bones are horrified.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 6:4 -

Return, LORD, rescue my [fn]soul;

Save me because of Your mercy.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 7:1 -

A [fn]Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD [fn]concerning Cush, a Benjaminite.

The LORD judges the peoples;

[fn]Vindicate me, LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 9:13 -

Be gracious to me, LORD;

See my oppression from those who hate me,

You who lift me up from the gates of death,

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 12:1 -

Help, LORD, for the godly person has come to an end,

For the faithful have disappeared from the sons of mankind.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 13:4 -

And my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”

And my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 13:5 -

But I have trusted in Your faithfulness;

My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 16:1 -

A [fn]Mikhtam of David.

Protect me, God, for I take refuge in You.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 16:7 -

I will bless the LORD who has advised me;

Indeed, my [fn]mind instructs me in the night.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 16:11 -

You will make known to me the way of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 17:3 -

You have put my heart to the test;

You have visited me by night;

You have sifted me and You find [fn]nothing;

My intent is that my mouth will not offend.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 17:8 -

Keep me as [fn]the apple of the eye;

Hide me in the shadow of Your wings

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 17:9 -

From the wicked who deal violently with me,

My deadly enemies who surround me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 17:11 -

They have now surrounded us in our steps;

They set their eyes to cast us down to the ground.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 17:12 -

He is like a lion that is eager to tear,

He drew me out of many waters.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:17 -

And from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:18 -

They confronted me in the day of my disaster,

But the LORD was my support.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:19 -

He also brought me out into an open place;

He rescued me, because He delighted in me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:32 -

The God who encircles me with strength,

And [fn]makes my way [fn]blameless?

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:33 -

He makes my feet like deer's feet,

And sets me up on my high places.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:35 -

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation,

And Your right hand upholds me;

And Your [fn]gentleness makes me great.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:39 -

For You have encircled me with strength for battle;

You have forced those who rose up against me to bow down under me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:40 -

You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me,

And I [fn]destroyed those who hated me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 18:43 -

Far from my [fn]help are the words of my [fn]groaning.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 22:7 -

All who see me deride me;

They [fn]sneer, they shake their heads, saying,

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 22:9 -

Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb;

You made me trust when upon my mother's breasts.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 22:12 -

Many bulls have surrounded me;

Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 22:15 -

My strength is dried up like a piece of pottery,

And my tongue clings to my jaws;

And You lay me [fn]in the dust of death.

He guides me in the [fn]paths of righteousness

For the sake of His name.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 23:4 -

I fear no [fn]evil, for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You [fn]have anointed my head with oil;

My cup overflows.

Teach me Your paths.

That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,

To behold the [fn]beauty of the LORD

And to [fn]meditate in His temple.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 27:5 -

For on the day of trouble He will conceal me in His [fn]tabernacle;

He will hide me in the secret place of His tent;

He will lift me up on a rock.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 27:7 -

Hear, LORD, when I cry with my voice,

And be gracious to me and answer me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 27:9 -

When I raise my hands toward [fn]Your holy sanctuary.

Who speak peace with their neighbors,

While evil is in their hearts.

Into Your hand I entrust my spirit;

You have redeemed me, LORD, God of [fn]truth.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 31:8 -

And You have not handed me over to the enemy;

You have set my feet in a large place.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 31:9 -

Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am in distress;

My eye is wasted away from grief, my soul and my body too.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 31:11 -

Because of all my adversaries, I have become a disgrace,

Especially to my neighbors,

And an object of dread to my acquaintances;

Those who see me in the street flee from me.

My times are in Your hand;

Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.”

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 35:11 -

“Turn Your eyes away from me, that I may become cheerful again

Before I depart and am no more.”

He brought me up out of the pit of [fn]destruction, out of the mud;

And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 40:12 -

For evils beyond number have surrounded me;

My guilty deeds have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see;

They are more numerous than the hairs of my head,

And my heart has [fn]failed me.

Be pleased, LORD, to rescue me;

Hurry, LORD, to help me.

For zeal for Your house has consumed me,

And the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me.

God, You have taught me from my youth,

And I still declare Your wondrous deeds.

Until I declare Your [fn]strength to this generation,

Your power to all who are to come.

Turn to me, and be gracious to me;

Grant Your strength to Your servant,

And save the son of Your maidservant.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 86:17 -

Show me a sign of good,

That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,

Because You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 87:4 -

“I shall mention [fn]Rahab and Babylon [fn]among those who know Me;

Behold, Philistia and Tyre with [fn]Cush:

‘This one was born there.'”

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 88:6 -

You have put me in the lowest pit,

In dark places, in the depths.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 88:8 -

You have removed my acquaintances far from me;

You have made me an [fn]object of loathing to them;

I am shut up and cannot go out.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 88:16 -

Your burning anger has passed over me;

Your terrors have [fn]destroyed me.

Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;

Incline Your ear to me;

On the day when I call answer me quickly.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 102:8 -

My enemies have taunted me all day long;

Those who [fn]deride me [fn]have used my name as a curse.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 102:10 -

Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;

For You have lifted me up and thrown me away.

When they see me, they shake their head.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 109:26 -

Help me, LORD my God;

Save me according to Your mercy.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 109:29 -

[fn]May my accusers be clothed with dishonor,

And [fn]may they cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 116:3 -

The snares of death encompassed me

And the [fn]terrors of [fn]Sheol [fn]came upon me;

I found distress and sorrow.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 116:6 -

The LORD watches over the simple;

I was brought low, and He saved me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 118:10 -

All nations surrounded me;

In the name of the LORD I will certainly fend them off.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 118:11 -

Whose mouth speaks deceit

And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 1:4 -

To give prudence to the naive,

To the youth knowledge and discretion,

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 1:6 -

To understand a proverb and a saying,

The words of the wise and their riddles.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 1:28 -

“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;

They will seek me diligently but will not find me,

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 4:4 -

He taught me and said to me,

“Let your heart take hold of my words;

Keep my commandments and live;

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 5:13 -

“I did not listen to the voice of my teachers,

Nor incline my ear to my instructors!

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 8:22 -

“The LORD [fn]created me at the beginning of His way,

Before His works [fn]of old.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 8:23 -

“From eternity I was [fn]established,

From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.

When will I awake?

I will seek [fn]another drink.”

Do not say, “I shall do the same to him as he has done to me;

I will [fn]repay the person according to his work.”

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 25:7 -

For it is better that it be said to you, “Come up here,”

Than for you to be placed lower in the presence of the prince,

Whom your eyes have seen.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 30:3 -

Nor have I learned wisdom,

Nor do I have the knowledge of the Holy One.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 30:7 -

Two things I have asked of You;

Do not refuse me before I die:

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 30:9 -

So that I will not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the LORD?”

And that I will not become impoverished and steal,

And profane the name of my God.

Unchecked Copy BoxEcc 9:13 -

This too I saw as wisdom under the sun, and [fn]it impressed me:

In the hiding place of the mountain pathway,

Let me see [fn]how you look,

Let me hear your voice;

For your voice is pleasant,

And [fn]you look delightful.”

Unchecked Copy BoxSng 3:3 -

“The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me,

And I said, ‘Have you seen him whom my soul loves?'

Unchecked Copy BoxSng 3:4 -

When I found him whom my soul loves;

“The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me,

They struck me and wounded me;

I would give you spiced wine to drink from the juice of my pomegranates.

Unchecked Copy BoxSng 8:3 -

Let his left hand be under my head,

And his right hand embrace me.”

Unchecked Copy BoxSng 8:6 -

“Put me like a seal over your heart,

Like a seal on your arm.

For love is as strong as death,

[fn]Jealousy is as severe as Sheol;

Its flames are flames of fire,

[fn]The flame of the LORD.

Unchecked Copy BoxSng 8:13 -

The Groom

For although You were angry with me,

Your anger is turned away,

And You comfort me.

Pains have seized me like the pains of a woman in labor.

I am so bewildered I cannot hear, so terrified I cannot see.

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 21:4 -

My [fn]mind reels, [fn]horror overwhelms me;

The twilight I longed for has been turned into trembling for me.

For this is what the Lord says to me:

“Go, station the lookout, have him report what he sees.

Therefore I say, “Look away from me,

Let me weep bitterly,

Do not [fn]try to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 27:4 -

And their [fn]reverence for Me [fn]consists of the commandment of men that is taught;

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 29:16 -

You turn things around!

Shall the potter be considered [fn]as equal with the clay,

That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”;

Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 30:19 -

[fn]For, you people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will certainly be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.

The Spirit of the Lord [fn]GOD is upon me,

To proclaim [fn]release to captives

And [fn]freedom to prisoners;

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 61:10 -

I will rejoice greatly in the LORD,

My soul will be joyful in my God;

Woe to me, my mother, that you have given birth to me

You know, LORD;

Bring on them a day of disaster,

Unchecked Copy BoxJer 18:5 -

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Unchecked Copy BoxJer 19:1 -

This is what the LORD says: “Go and buy a potter's earthenware jar, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the [fn]senior priests.

Unchecked Copy BoxJer 19:4 - “Since they have abandoned Me and have made this place foreign, and have burned [fn]sacrifices in it to other gods that neither they nor their forefathers nor the kings of Judah had ever known, and since they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent
