The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem

1 Then David made ^H6213 houses ^H1004 for himself in the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732; and he prepared ^H3559 a place ^H4725 for the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 and pitched ^H5186 a tent ^H168 for it.

2 And ^H227 David ^H1732 said ^H559, “No ^H3808 one is to carry ^H5375 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 but the Levites ^H3881; for Yahweh ^H3068 chose ^H977 them to carry ^H5375 the ark ^H727 of [fn]God ^H430 and to minister ^H8334 to Him forever ^H5704 H5769.” 3 Then David ^H1732 assembled ^H6950 all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478 at Jerusalem ^H3389 to bring ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 to its place ^H4725 which ^H834 he had prepared ^H3559 for it. 4 And David ^H1732 gathered ^H622 together the sons ^H1121 of Aaron ^H175 and the Levites ^H3881:

5 of the sons ^H1121 of Kohath ^H6955, Uriel ^H222 the chief ^H8269, and 120 ^H3967 H6242 of his [fn]relatives ^H251;

6 of the sons ^H1121 of Merari ^H4847, Asaiah ^H6222 the chief ^H8269, and 220 ^H3967 H6242 of his relatives ^H251;

7 of the sons ^H1121 of Gershom ^H1647, Joel ^H3100 the chief ^H8269, and 130 ^H3967 H7970 of his relatives ^H251;

8 of the sons ^H1121 of Elizaphan ^H469, Shemaiah ^H8098 the chief ^H8269, and 200 ^H3967 of his relatives ^H251;

9 of the sons ^H1121 of Hebron ^H2275, Eliel ^H447 the chief ^H8269, and 80 ^H8084 of his relatives ^H251;

10 of the sons ^H1121 of Uzziel ^H5816, Amminadab ^H5992 the chief ^H8269, and 112 ^{H3967 H8147 H6240} of his relatives ^H251.

11 Then David ^H1732 called ^H7121 for Zadok ^H6659 and Abiathar ^H54 the priests ^H3548, and for the Levites ^H3881, for Uriel ^H222, Asaiah ^H6222, Joel ^H3100, Shemaiah ^H8098, Eliel ^H447 and Amminadab ^H5992, 12 and said ^H559 to them, “You are the heads ^H7218 of the fathers’ ^H1 households of the Levites ^H3881; set ^H6942 yourselves apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942, both you and your relatives ^H251, that you may bring ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, to the place that I have prepared ^H3559 for it. 13 Because ^H3588 you did not carry it at the first ^H7223, Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430 broke ^H6555 out ^H6555 against us, for we did not seek ^H1875 Him according to the legal judgment ^H4941.” 14 So the priests ^H3548 and the Levites ^H3881 set ^H6942 themselves apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 to bring ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478. 15 And the sons ^H1121 of the Levites ^H3881 carried ^H5375 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 on their shoulders ^H3802 with the poles ^H4133 thereon ^H5921, as Moses ^H4872 had commanded ^H6680 according to the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068.

16 Then David ^H1732 said ^H559 to the chiefs ^H8269 of the Levites ^H3881 to appoint ^H5975 their relatives ^H251 the singers ^H7891, with instruments ^H3627 of music ^H7892, harps ^H5035, lyres ^H3658, loud-sounding ^H8085 cymbals ^H4700, to raise ^H7311 a sound ^H6963 of gladness ^H8057. 17 So the Levites ^H3881 appointed ^H5975 Heman ^H1968 the son ^H1121 of Joel ^H3100, and from his relatives ^H251, Asaph ^H623 the son ^H1121 of Berechiah ^H1296; and from the sons ^H1121 of Merari ^H4847 their relatives ^H251, Ethan ^H387 the son ^H1121 of Kushaiah ^H6984, 18 and with them their relatives ^H251 of the second ^H4932 rank ^H4932, Zechariah ^H2148, [fn]Ben ^H1122, Jaaziel ^H3268, Shemiramoth ^H8070, Jehiel ^H3171, Unni ^H6042, Eliab ^H446, Benaiah ^H1141, Maaseiah ^H4641, Mattithiah ^H4993, Eliphelehu ^H466, Mikneiah ^H4737, Obed-edom ^H5654, and Jeiel ^H3262, the gatekeepers ^H7778. 19 So the singers ^H7891, Heman ^H1968, Asaph ^H623 and Ethan ^H387 were appointed to sound ^H8085 aloud cymbals ^H4700 of bronze ^H5178; 20 and Zechariah ^H2148, Aziel ^H5815, Shemiramoth ^H8070, Jehiel ^H3171, Unni ^H6042, Eliab ^H446, Maaseiah ^H4641, and Benaiah ^H1141, with [fn]harps ^H5035 set according to alamoth ^H5961; 21 and Mattithiah ^H4993, Eliphelehu ^H466, Mikneiah ^H4737, Obed-edom ^H5654, Jeiel ^H3262, and Azaziah ^H5812, to lead ^H5329 with [fn]lyres ^H3658 set according to the sheminith ^H8066. 22 Chenaniah ^H3663, chief ^H8269 of the Levites ^H3881, was in charge of the [fn]singing ^H4853; he gave ^H3256 instruction ^H3256 in singing ^H4853 because ^H3588 he had understanding ^H995. 23 Berechiah ^H1296 and Elkanah ^H511 were gatekeepers ^H7778 for the ark ^H727. 24 Shebaniah ^H7645, Joshaphat ^H3092, Nethanel ^H5417, Amasai ^H6022, Zechariah ^H2148, Benaiah ^H1141, and Eliezer ^H461, the priests ^H3548, blew ^H2690 the trumpets ^H2689 before ^H6440 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430. Obed-edom ^H5654 and Jehiah ^H3174 also were gatekeepers ^H7778 for the ark ^H727.

25 So it was David ^H1732, with the elders ^H2205 of Israel ^H3478 and the commanders ^H8269 over thousands ^H505, who went ^H1980 to bring ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068 from the house ^H1004 of Obed-edom ^H5654 with gladness ^H8057. 26 Now this happened because God ^H430 was helping ^H5826 the Levites ^H3881 who were carrying ^H5375 the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068. And they sacrificed ^H2076 seven ^H7651 bulls ^H6499 and seven ^H7651 rams ^H352. 27 Now David ^H1732 was clothed ^H3736 with a robe ^H4598 of fine ^H948 linen ^H948 with all ^H3605 the Levites ^H3881 who were carrying ^H5375 the ark ^H727, as well as the singers ^H7891 and Chenaniah ^H3663 the leader ^H8269 of the singing ^H4853 with the singers ^H7891. David ^H1732 also wore ^H5921 a linen ^H906 ephod ^H646. 28 Thus all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478 was ^H5927 bringing ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068 with shouting ^H8643, and with sound ^H6963 of the [fn]horn ^H7782, with trumpets ^H2689, with loud-sounding ^H8085 cymbals ^H4700, with harps ^H5035, and lyres ^H3658.

29 Now it happened ^H1961 as the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H935 to the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732, that Michal ^H4324 the daughter ^H1323 of Saul ^H7586 looked ^H8259 out ^H8259 of the window ^H2474 and saw ^H7200 King ^H4428 David ^H1732 leaping ^H7540 and celebrating ^H7832; and she despised ^H959 him in her heart ^H3820.
