Jehoshaphat Reigns over Judah

1 Jehoshaphat ^H3092 his son ^H1121 then became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478, and strengthened ^H2388 himself over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478.

2 And he put ^H5414 military ^H2428 forces ^H2428 in all ^H3605 the fortified ^H1219 cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063, and put ^H5414 garrisons ^H5333 in the land ^H776 of Judah ^H3063 and in the cities ^H5892 of Ephraim ^H669 which ^H834 Asa ^H609 his father ^H1 had captured ^H3920.

Jehoshaphat’s Kingdom Established

3 And Yahweh ^H3068 was with Jehoshaphat ^H3092 because ^H3588 he walked ^H1980 in the ways ^H1870 of his father ^H1 David’s ^H1732 earlier ^H7223 days and did not seek ^H1875 the Baals ^H1168, 4 but sought ^H1875 the God ^H430 of his father ^H1, walked ^H1980 in His commandments ^H4687, and did not act ^H4639 as Israel ^H3478 did ^H4639. 5 So Yahweh ^H3068 established ^H3559 the kingdom ^H4467 in his hand ^H3027, and all ^H3605 Judah ^H3063 brought ^H5414 presents ^H4503 to Jehoshaphat ^H3092, and he had ^H1961 great ^H7230 riches ^H6239 and honor ^H3519. 6 And [fn]his heart ^H3820 took ^H1361 great ^H1361 pride ^H1361 in the ways ^H1870 of Yahweh ^H3068, and again ^H5750 he took ^H5493 away ^H5493 the high ^H1116 places ^H1116 and the [fn]Asherim ^H842 from Judah ^H3063.

7 Then in the third ^H7969 year ^H8141 of his reign ^H4427 he sent ^H7971 his officials ^H8269, Ben-hail ^H1134, Obadiah ^H5662, Zechariah ^H2148, Nethanel ^H5417 and Micaiah ^H4322, to teach ^H3925 in the cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063; 8 and with them the Levites ^H3881, Shemaiah ^H8098, Nethaniah ^H5418, Zebadiah ^H2069, Asahel ^H6214, Shemiramoth ^H8070, Jehonathan ^H3083, Adonijah ^H138, Tobijah ^H2900, and Tobadonijah ^H2899, the Levites ^H3881; and with them Elishama ^H476 and Jehoram ^H3088, the priests ^H3548. 9 And they taught ^H3925 in Judah ^H3063, having the book ^H5612 of the law ^H8451 of Yahweh ^H3068 with them; and they went ^H5437 throughout ^H5437 all ^H3605 the cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063 and taught ^H3925 among the people ^H5971.

17 and of Benjamin ^H1144, Eliada ^H450 a mighty ^H1368 man ^H1368 of valor ^H2428, and with him 200,000 ^H3967 H505 equipped ^H5401 with bow ^H7198 and shield ^H4043;

18 and next ^H5921 H3027 to him Jehozabad ^H3075, and with him 180,000 ^{H3967 H8084 H505} armed ^H2502 for military duty ^H6635.

19 These ^H428 are they who attended ^H8334 on the king ^H4428, apart ^H905 from those whom ^H834 the king ^H4428 put ^H5414 in the fortified ^H4013 cities ^H5892 through all ^H3605 Judah ^H3063.
