Yahweh’s House Will Be Great

1 [fn]Then Solomon ^H8010 [fn]decided ^H559 to build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068 and a [fn]royal ^H4438 palace ^H1004 for himself.

2 [fn]So Solomon ^H8010 numbered ^H5608 70,000 ^H7657 H505 men ^H376 to carry ^H5449 loads ^H5449 and 80,000 ^H8084 H505 men ^H376 to hew ^H2672 stone in the mountains ^H2022 and 3,600 ^{H7969 H505 H8337 H3967} to direct ^H5329 them.

3 Then Solomon ^H8010 sent ^H7971 word to [fn]Huram ^H2361 the king ^H4428 of Tyre ^H6865, saying ^H559, “As you dealt ^H6213 with David ^H1732 my father ^H1 and sent ^H7971 him cedars ^H730 to build ^H1129 him a house ^H1004 to live ^H3427 in, so do for me. 4 Behold ^H2009, I am about to build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068 my God ^H430, setting ^H6942 it apart ^H6942 to Him as ^H6942 holy ^H6942, to burn ^H6999 fragrant ^H5561 incense ^H7004 before ^H6440 Him and to set out the showbread ^H4635 continually ^H8548, and to offer burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 morning ^H1242 and evening ^H6153, on sabbaths ^H7676 and on new ^H2320 moons ^H2320 and on the appointed ^H4150 feasts ^H4150 of Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430, this ^H2088 being required forever ^H5769 in Israel ^H3478. 5 Now the house ^H1004 which ^H834 I am about to build ^H1129 will be great ^H1419, for greater ^H1419 is our God ^H430 than ^H4480 all ^H3605 the gods ^H430. 6 But who ^H4310 is ^H6113 able ^H6113 H3581 to build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for Him, for the heavens ^H8064 and the highest ^H8064 heavens ^H8064 cannot ^H3808 contain ^H3557 Him? So who ^H4310 am I, that I should build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for Him, except ^H3588 H518 to [fn]burn ^H6999 incense before ^H6440 Him? 7 So now ^H6258, send ^H7971 me a wise ^H2450 man ^H376 to work ^H6213 in gold ^H2091, silver ^H3701, brass ^H5178, and iron ^H1270, and in purple ^H710, crimson ^H3758, and blue ^H8504 fabrics, and who knows ^H3045 how to make ^H6605 engravings ^H6603, to work with the wise ^H2450 men ^H2450 [fn]whom ^H834 I have ^H5973 in Judah ^H3063 and Jerusalem ^H3389, whom ^H834 David ^H1732 my father ^H1 prepared ^H3559. 8 Send ^H7971 me also cedar ^H730, cypress ^H1265 and algum ^H418 timber ^H6086 from Lebanon ^H3844, for I know ^H3045 that your servants ^H5650 know ^H3045 how to cut ^H3772 timber ^H6086 of Lebanon ^H3844; and behold ^H2009, my servants ^H5650 will work with your servants ^H5650, 9 to prepare ^H3559 timber ^H6086 in abundance ^H7230 for me, for the house ^H1004 which ^H834 I am about to build ^H1129 will be great ^H1419 and wonderful ^H6381. 10 And behold ^H2009, I will give ^H5414 to your servants ^H5650, the woodsmen ^H2404 who cut ^H3772 the timber ^H6086, [fn]20,000 ^H6242 H505 kors ^H3734 of crushed ^H4347 wheat ^H2406 and 20,000 ^H6242 H505 kors ^H3734 of barley ^H8184, and [fn]20,000 ^H6242 H505 baths ^H1324 of wine ^H3196 and 20,000 ^H6242 H505 baths ^H1324 of oil ^H8081.”

Covenant with Huram King of Tyre

11 Then Huram ^H2361 king ^H4428 of Tyre ^H6865 said ^H559 in a letter ^H3791 [fn]sent ^H7971 to Solomon ^H8010: “Because Yahweh ^H3068 loves ^H157 His people ^H5971, He has given ^H5414 you to be king ^H4428 over ^H5921 them.”

12 Then Huram ^H2361 said ^H559, “Blessed ^H1288 be Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, who ^H834 has made ^H6213 heaven ^H8064 and earth ^H776, who ^H834 has given ^H5414 King ^H4428 David ^H1732 a wise ^H2450 son ^H1121, knowledgeable ^H3045 in insight ^H7922 and understanding ^H998, who ^H834 will build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for Yahweh ^H3068 and a [fn]royal ^H4438 palace ^H1004 for himself.

13 “So now ^H6258, I am sending ^H7971 Huram-abi ^H2361 H1, a wise ^H2450 man ^H376, who is knowledgeable ^H3045 in understanding ^H998, 14 the son ^H1121 of a [fn]Danite ^H1323 H1835 woman ^H802 and [fn]a Tyrian ^H6876 father ^H1, who knows ^H3045 how to work ^H6213 in gold ^H2091, silver ^H3701, bronze ^H5178, iron ^H1270, stone ^H68, and wood ^H6086, and in purple ^H713, blue ^H8504, linen ^H948, and crimson ^H3758 fabrics, and who knows how to make ^H6605 all ^H3605 kinds of engravings ^H6605 and to devise ^H2803 any ^H3605 design ^H4284 which ^H834 may be given ^H5414 to him, to work with your wise ^H2450 men ^H2450 and with the wise ^H2450 men of my lord ^H113 David ^H1732 your father ^H1. 15 So now ^H6258, let my lord ^H113 send ^H7971 to his servants ^H5650 wheat ^H2406 and barley ^H8184, oil ^H8081 and wine ^H3196, of which ^H834 he has spoken ^H559. 16 And we will cut ^H3772 whatever ^H3605 timber ^H6086 you need ^H6878 from Lebanon ^H3844 and bring ^H935 it to you on rafts ^H7513 by sea ^H3220 to Joppa ^H3305, so that you may carry ^H5927 it up ^H5927 to Jerusalem ^H3389.”

17 Then Solomon ^H8010 numbered ^H5608 all ^H3605 the sojourners ^H1616 who ^H834 were in the land ^H776 of Israel ^H3478, following ^H310 the [fn]census ^H5610 which ^H834 his father ^H1 David ^H1732 had [fn]taken ^H5608; and 153,600 ^{H3967 H2572 H505 H7969 H505 H8337 H3967} were found ^H4672. 18 And he made ^H6213 70,000 ^H7657 H505 of them to carry ^H5449 loads ^H5449 and 80,000 ^H8084 H505 as hewers ^H2672 of stone in the mountains ^H2022 and 3,600 ^{H7969 H505 H8337 H3967} directors ^H5329 to make the people ^H5971 work ^H5647.
