Hezekiah Reigns over Judah

1 Hezekiah ^H2396 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 when he was twenty-five ^H6242 H2568 years ^H8141 old ^H1121; and he reigned ^H4427 twenty-nine ^H6242 H8672 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389. And his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Abijah ^H29, the daughter ^H1323 of Zechariah ^H2148.

2 And he did ^H6213 what ^H3477 was ^H3477 right ^H3477 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, according to all ^H3605 that David ^H1732 his father ^H1 had done ^H6213.

3 In the first ^H7223 year ^H8141 of his reign ^H4427, in the first ^H7223 month ^H2320, he opened ^H6605 the doors ^H1817 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 and repaired ^H2388 them. 4 And he brought ^H935 in ^H935 the priests ^H3548 and the Levites ^H3881 and gathered ^H622 them into the square ^H7339 on the east ^H4217.

Hezekiah Sets the House of God as Holy

5 Then he said ^H559 to them, “Listen ^H8085 to me, O Levites ^H3881. Set ^H6942 yourselves apart ^H6942 now ^H6258 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942, and set ^H6942 apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of your fathers ^H1, and bring ^H3318 out ^H3318 the impurity ^H5079 from the holy ^H6944 place. 6 For our fathers ^H1 have been ^H4603 unfaithful ^H4603 and have done ^H6213 what ^H7451 is evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430, and have forsaken ^H5800 Him and turned ^H5437 their faces ^H6440 away ^H5437 from the dwelling ^H4908 place ^H4908 of Yahweh ^H3068, and have [fn]turned ^H5414 their backs ^H6203. 7 They have also ^H1571 shut ^H5462 the doors ^H1817 of the porch ^H197 and put ^H3518 out the lamps ^H5216, and have not burned ^H6999 incense ^H7004 or offered ^H5927 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 in the holy ^H6944 place to the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478. 8 Therefore the wrath ^H7110 of Yahweh ^H3068 was against ^H5921 Judah ^H3063 and Jerusalem ^H3389, and He has made ^H5414 them an object ^H2113 of ^H2113 terror ^H2113, of horror ^H8047, and of hissing ^H8322, as you see ^H7200 with your own eyes ^H5869. 9 And behold ^H2009, our fathers ^H1 have fallen ^H5307 by the sword ^H2719, and our sons ^H1121 and our daughters ^H1323 and our wives ^H802 are in captivity ^H7628 for this ^H2088. 10 Now ^H6258 it is in my heart ^H3824 to cut ^H3772 a covenant ^H1285 with Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, that His burning ^H2740 anger ^H639 may turn ^H7725 away ^H7725 from us. 11 My sons ^H1121, do not be ^H7951 at ^H7951 ease ^H7951 now ^H6258, for Yahweh ^H3068 has chosen ^H977 you to stand ^H5975 before ^H6440 Him, to minister ^H8334 to Him, and to be His ministers ^H8334 and offer ^H6999 offerings up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999.”

12 Then the Levites ^H3881 arose ^H6965:

Mahath ^H4287, the son ^H1121 of Amasai ^H6022 and Joel ^H3100 the son ^H1121 of Azariah ^H5838, from the sons ^H1121 of the Kohathites ^H6956;

and from the sons ^H1121 of Merari ^H4847, Kish ^H7027 the son ^H1121 of Abdi ^H5660 and Azariah ^H5838 the son ^H1121 of Jehallelel ^H3094;

and from the Gershonites ^H1649, Joah ^H3098 the son ^H1121 of Zimmah ^H2155 and Eden ^H5731 the son ^H1121 of Joah ^H3098;

13 and from the sons ^H1121 of Elizaphan ^H469, Shimri ^H8113 and [fn]Jeiel ^H3262;

and from the sons ^H1121 of Asaph ^H623, Zechariah ^H2148 and Mattaniah ^H4983;

14 and from the sons ^H1121 of Heman ^H1968, [fn]Jehiel ^H3171 and Shimei ^H8096;

and from the sons ^H1121 of Jeduthun ^H3038, Shemaiah ^H8098 and Uzziel ^H5816.

15 And they gathered ^H622 their brothers ^H251, set ^H6942 themselves apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942, and went ^H935 in ^H935 to cleanse ^H2891 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, according to the commandment ^H4687 of the king ^H4428 by the words ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068. 16 So the priests ^H3548 went ^H935 in ^H935 to the inner ^H6441 part ^H6441 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 to cleanse ^H2891 it, and every ^H3605 unclean ^H2932 thing ^H2932 which ^H834 they found ^H4672 in the temple ^H1964 of Yahweh ^H3068 they brought ^H3318 out ^H3318 to the court ^H2691 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068. Hezekiah Brings an Offering

20 Then King ^H4428 Hezekiah ^H2396 arose ^H7925 early ^H7925 and gathered ^H622 the princes ^H8269 of the city ^H5892 and went ^H5927 up ^H5927 to the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068.

21 And they brought ^H935 seven ^H7651 bulls ^H6499, seven ^H7651 rams ^H352, seven ^H7651 lambs ^H3532, and seven ^H7651 male ^H6842 goats ^H5795 for a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 for the kingdom ^H4467, the sanctuary ^H4720, and Judah ^H3063. And he ordered ^H559 the priests ^H3548, the sons ^H1121 of Aaron ^H175, to offer ^H5927 them on the altar ^H4196 of Yahweh ^H3068. 22 So they slaughtered ^H7819 the bulls ^H1241, and the priests ^H3548 took ^H6901 the blood ^H1818 and splashed ^H2236 it on the altar ^H4196. They also slaughtered ^H7819 the rams ^H352 and splashed ^H2236 the blood ^H1818 on the altar ^H4196; they slaughtered ^H7819 the lambs ^H3532 also and splashed ^H2236 the blood ^H1818 on the altar ^H4196. 23 Then they had ^H5066 the male ^H8163 goats ^H8163 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 approach ^H5066 before ^H6440 the king ^H4428 and the assembly ^H6951, and they laid ^H5564 their hands ^H3027 on them. 24 And the priests ^H3548 slaughtered ^H7819 them and purged ^H2398 the altar ^H4196 with their blood ^H1818 to atone ^H3722 for all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478, for the king ^H4428 ordered ^H559 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 and the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 for all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478.

25 He then caused the Levites ^H3881 to stand ^H5975 in the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 with cymbals ^H4700, with harps ^H5035, and with lyres ^H3658, according to the command ^H4687 of David ^H1732 and of Gad ^H1410 the king’s ^H4428 seer ^H2374, and of Nathan ^H5416 the prophet ^H5030; for the command ^H4687 was from Yahweh ^H3068 by the hand ^H3027 of His prophets ^H5030. 26 And the Levites ^H3881 stood ^H5975 with the musical instruments ^H3627 of David ^H1732, and the priests ^H3548 with the trumpets ^H2689. 27 Then Hezekiah ^H2396 said ^H559 to offer ^H5927 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 on the altar ^H4196. When ^H6256 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 began ^H2490, the song ^H7892 to Yahweh ^H3068 also began ^H2490 with the trumpets ^H2689, [fn]accompanied by the instruments ^H3627 of David ^H1732, king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478. 28 While the whole ^H3605 assembly ^H6951 worshiped ^H2331, the singers ^H7892 also sang ^H7891 and the trumpets ^H2689 sounded ^H2690; all ^H3605 this continued until ^H5704 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 was completed ^H3615.

31 Then Hezekiah ^H2396 answered ^H6030 and said ^H559, “Now ^H6258 that you have [fn]become ordained ^H4390 H3027 to Yahweh ^H3068, approach ^H5066 and bring ^H935 sacrifices ^H2077 and thank ^H8426 offerings ^H8426 to the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068.” And the assembly ^H6951 brought ^H935 sacrifices ^H2077 and thank ^H8426 offerings ^H8426, and all ^H3605 those who were willing ^H5081 of heart ^H3820 brought burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930. 32 And the number ^H4557 of the burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 which ^H834 the assembly ^H6951 brought ^H935 was 70 ^H7657 bulls ^H1241, 100 ^H3967 rams ^H352, and 200 ^H3967 lambs ^H3532; all ^H3605 these ^H428 were for a burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 to Yahweh ^H3068. 33 And the holy ^H6944 things ^H6944 were 600 ^H8337 H3967 bulls ^H1241 and 3,000 ^H7969 H505 sheep ^H6629. 34 But the priests ^H3548 were too few ^H4592, so that they were ^H3201 unable ^H3808 H3201 to skin ^H6584 all ^H3605 the burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930; therefore their brothers ^H251 the Levites ^H3881 helped ^H2388 them until ^H5704 the work ^H4399 was completed ^H3615 and until ^H5704 the other priests ^H3548 had set ^H6942 themselves apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942. For the Levites ^H3881 were more ^H4480 upright ^H3477 of heart ^H3824 to set ^H6942 themselves apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 than ^H4480 the priests ^H3548. 35 There were also ^H1571 [fn]many ^H7230 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 with the fat ^H2459 of the peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002 and with the drink ^H5262 offerings ^H5262 for the burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930. Thus the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 was established ^H3559 again. 36 Then Hezekiah ^H2396 and all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 were glad ^H8055 over ^H5921 what God ^H430 had prepared ^H3559 for the people ^H5971, because ^H3588 the thing ^H1697 came ^H1961 about ^H1961 suddenly ^H6597.
