Manasseh Reigns over Judah

1 Manasseh ^H4519 was twelve ^H8147 H6240 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 fifty-five ^H2572 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389.

2 And he did ^H6213 what ^H7451 was evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, according to the abominations ^H8441 of the nations ^H1471 whom ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 dispossessed ^H3423 before ^H4480 H6440 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478. 3 Indeed, he rebuilt ^H7725 H1129 the high ^H1116 places ^H1116 which ^H834 Hezekiah ^H2396 his father ^H1 had torn ^H5422 down ^H5422; and he erected ^H6965 altars ^H4196 for the Baals ^H1168 and made ^H6213 [fn]Asherim ^H842, and worshiped ^H2331 all ^H3605 the host ^H6635 of heaven ^H8064 and served ^H5647 them. 4 And he built ^H1129 altars ^H4196 in the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, of which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 had said ^H559, “In Jerusalem ^H3389 My name ^H8034 shall be forever ^H5769.” 5 Indeed, he built ^H1129 altars ^H4196 for all ^H3605 the host ^H6635 of heaven ^H8064 in the two ^H8147 courts ^H2691 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068. 6 He even made his sons ^H1121 pass ^H5674 through the fire ^H784 in the valley ^H1516 of Ben-hinnom ^H1121 H2011; and he practiced ^H6049 soothsaying ^H6049, interpreted ^H5172 omens ^H5172, practiced ^H3784 sorcery ^H3784, and dealt ^H6213 with mediums ^H178 and spiritists ^H3049. He did ^H6213 much ^H7235 that ^H7451 was evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, provoking ^H3707 Him to anger. 7 Then he put ^H7760 the graven ^H6459 image ^H6459 of the [fn]idol ^H5566, which ^H834 he had made ^H6213, in the house ^H1004 of God ^H430, of which ^H834 God ^H430 had said ^H559 to David ^H1732 and to Solomon ^H8010 his son ^H1121, “In this ^H2088 house ^H1004 and in Jerusalem ^H3389, which ^H834 I have chosen ^H977 from all ^H3605 the tribes ^H7626 of Israel ^H3478, I will put ^H7760 My name ^H8034 forever ^H5769. 8 And I will not again ^H3254 remove ^H5493 the foot ^H7272 of Israel ^H3478 from the land ^H127 which ^H834 I have set ^H5975 up ^H5975 for your fathers ^H1, if ^H518 only ^H7534 they will be ^H8104 careful ^H8104 to do ^H6213 all ^H3605 that I have commanded ^H6680 them according to all ^H3605 the law ^H8451, the statutes ^H2706 and the judgments ^H4941 given by the hand ^H3027 of Moses ^H4872.” 9 Thus Manasseh ^H4519 led ^H8582 Judah ^H3063 and the inhabitants ^H3427 of Jerusalem ^H3389 astray ^H8582 in order to do ^H6213 more ^H4480 evil ^H7451 than ^H4480 the nations ^H1471 whom ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 destroyed ^H8045 before ^H4480 H6440 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478.

Manasseh Removes Foreign Idols

10 Then Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Manasseh ^H4519 and his people ^H5971, but they paid ^H7181 no ^H3808 attention ^H7181.

11 Therefore Yahweh ^H3068 brought ^H935 the commanders ^H8269 of the army ^H6635 of the king ^H4428 of Assyria ^H804 against ^H5921 them, and they captured ^H3920 Manasseh ^H4519 with [fn]hooks ^H2336, bound ^H631 him with bronze ^H5178 chains, and took ^H1980 him to Babylon ^H894. 12 And when he was in distress ^H6887, he entreated ^H2470 Yahweh ^H3068 his God ^H430 and humbled ^H3665 himself greatly ^H3966 before ^H4480 H6440 the God ^H430 of his fathers ^H1. 13 Then he prayed ^H6419 to Him, and He was moved ^H6279 by his entreaty ^H6279 and heard ^H8085 his supplication ^H8467, and returned ^H7725 him back ^H7725 to Jerusalem ^H3389 to his kingdom ^H4438. Then Manasseh ^H4519 knew ^H3045 that Yahweh ^H3068 was God ^H430.

14 Afterwards ^H310 H3651, he built ^H1129 the outer ^H2435 wall ^H2346 of the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732 on the west ^H4628 side ^H4628 of Gihon ^H1521, in the valley ^H5158, even to the entrance ^H935 of the Fish ^H1709 Gate ^H8179; and he encircled ^H5437 the Ophel ^H6077 with it and made ^H1361 it very ^H3966 high ^H1361. Then he put ^H7760 military ^H2428 commanders ^H8269 in all ^H3605 the fortified ^H1219 cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063. 15 He also removed ^H5493 the foreign ^H5236 gods ^H430 and the [fn]idol ^H5566 from the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, as well as all ^H3605 the altars ^H4196 which ^H834 he had built ^H1129 on the mountain ^H2022 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 and in Jerusalem ^H3389, and he threw ^H7993 them outside ^H2351 the city ^H5892. 16 And he set ^H3559 up the altar ^H4196 of Yahweh ^H3068 and sacrificed ^H2076 peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002 and thank ^H8426 offerings ^H8426 on it; and he said ^H559 for Judah ^H3063 to serve ^H5647 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478. 17 Nevertheless ^H61 the people ^H5971 still ^H5750 sacrificed ^H2076 in the high ^H1116 places ^H1116, although only ^H7534 to Yahweh ^H3068 their God ^H430.

18 Now the rest ^H3499 of the acts ^H1697 of Manasseh ^H4519, even his prayer ^H8605 to his God ^H430, and the words ^H1697 of the seers ^H2374 who spoke ^H1696 to him in the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, behold ^H2009, they are among ^H5921 the chronicles ^H1697 of the kings ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478. 19 His prayer ^H8605 also and how God was entreated ^H6279 by him, and all ^H3605 his sin ^H2403, his unfaithfulness ^H4604, and the sites ^H4725 on which ^H834 he built ^H1129 high ^H1116 places ^H1116 and erected ^H5975 the [fn]Asherim ^H842 and the graven ^H6456 images ^H6456, before ^H6440 he humbled ^H3665 himself, behold ^H2009, they are written ^H3789 in the chronicles ^H1697 of the [fn]Hozai ^H2335. 20 And Manasseh ^H4519 slept ^H7901 with his fathers ^H1, and they buried ^H6912 him in his own house ^H1004. And Amon ^H526 his son ^H1121 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478.

Amon Reigns over Judah

21 Amon ^H526 was twenty-two ^H6242 H8147 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 two ^H8147 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389.

22 And he did ^H6213 what ^H7451 was evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, as Manasseh ^H4519 his father ^H1 had done ^H6213, and Amon ^H526 sacrificed ^H2076 to all ^H3605 the graven ^H6456 images ^H6456 which ^H834 his father ^H1 Manasseh ^H4519 had made ^H6213, and he served ^H5647 them. 23 Moreover, he did not humble ^H3665 himself before ^H4480 H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 as his father ^H1 Manasseh ^H4519 had humbled ^H3665 himself, but Amon ^H526 multiplied ^H7235 guilt ^H819. 24 Then his servants ^H5650 conspired ^H7194 against ^H5921 him and put ^H4191 him to ^H4191 death ^H4191 in his own house ^H1004. 25 Then the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 struck ^H5221 down ^H5221 all ^H3605 those who had conspired ^H7194 against ^H5921 King ^H4428 Amon ^H526, and the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 made ^H4427 Josiah ^H2977 his son ^H1121 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478.
