The Glory of Yahweh Fills His House

1 Now when Solomon ^H8010 had [fn]finished ^H3615 praying ^H6419, fire ^H784 came ^H3381 down ^H3381 from heaven ^H8064 and consumed ^H398 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 and the sacrifices ^H2077, and the glory ^H3519 of Yahweh ^H3068 filled ^H4390 the house ^H1004.

2 And the priests ^H3548 could ^H3201 not enter ^H935 into the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 because ^H3588 the glory ^H3519 of Yahweh ^H3068 filled ^H4390 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068. 3 And all ^H3605 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, seeing ^H7200 the fire ^H784 come ^H3381 down ^H3381 and the glory ^H3519 of Yahweh ^H3068 upon the house ^H1004, bowed ^H3766 down ^H3766 on the pavement ^H7531 with their faces ^H639 to the ground ^H776, and they worshiped ^H2331 and gave ^H3034 praise ^H3034 to Yahweh ^H3068, saying, “For ^H3588 He is good ^H2896, for ^H3588 His lovingkindness ^H2617 endures forever ^H5769.”

Offerings for the House of Yahweh

4 Now the king ^H4428 and all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 were offering ^H2076 sacrifices ^H2077 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068.

5 And King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 offered ^H2076 a sacrifice ^H2077 of 22,000 ^{H6242 H8147 H505} oxen ^H1241 and 120,000 ^{H3967 H6242 H505} sheep ^H6629. So the king ^H4428 and all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 dedicated ^H2596 the house ^H1004 of God ^H430. 6 And the priests ^H3548 stood ^H5975 at their posts ^H4931, and the Levites ^H3881 also, with the instruments ^H3627 of music ^H7892 to Yahweh ^H3068, which ^H834 King ^H4428 David ^H1732 had made ^H6213 for giving ^H3034 thanks ^H3034 to Yahweh ^H3068-“for His lovingkindness ^H2617 endures forever ^H5769”—whenever [fn]he gave ^H3034 praise ^H1984 by their hand ^H3027, while the priests ^H3548 on the other ^H5048 side ^H5048 blew ^H2690 trumpets ^H2690; and all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478 was standing ^H5975.

Yahweh Appears to Solomon

11 Thus Solomon ^H8010 completed ^H3615 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 and the king’s ^H4428 house ^H1004; and all ^H3605 that had come ^H935 into ^H5921 Solomon’s ^H8010 heart ^H3820 to do ^H6213 in ^H935 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 and in his house ^H1004, he did successfully ^H6743.

12 Then Yahweh ^H3068 appeared ^H7200 to Solomon ^H8010 at night ^H3915 and said ^H559 to him, “I have heard ^H8085 your prayer ^H8605 and have chosen ^H977 this ^H2088 place ^H4725 for Myself as a house ^H1004 of sacrifice ^H2077.

13 If ^H2005 I shut ^H6113 up ^H6113 the heavens ^H8064 so that there is no ^H3808 rain ^H4306, or if ^H2005 I command ^H6680 the grasshopper ^H2284 to devour ^H398 the land ^H776, or if ^H518 I send ^H7971 pestilence ^H1698 among My people ^H5971, 14 and My people ^H5971 [fn]who ^H834 are called ^H7121 by My name ^H8034 humble ^H3665 themselves and pray ^H6419 and seek ^H1245 My face ^H6440 and turn ^H7725 from their evil ^H7451 ways ^H1870, then I will listen ^H8085 from heaven ^H8064, I will forgive ^H5545 their sin ^H2403, and I will heal ^H7495 their land ^H776. 15 Now ^H6258 My eyes ^H5869 will be open ^H6605 and My ears ^H241 attentive ^H7183 to the [fn]prayer ^H8605 offered in this ^H2088 place ^H4725. 16 So now ^H6258 I have chosen ^H977 and set ^H6942 this ^H2088 house ^H1004 apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 that My name ^H8034 may be there ^H8033 forever ^H5704 H5769, and My eyes ^H5869 and My heart ^H3820 will be there ^H8033 perpetually ^H3605 H3117. 17 As for you, if ^H518 you will walk ^H1980 before ^H6440 Me as your father ^H1 David ^H1732 walked ^H1980, even to do ^H6213 according to all ^H3605 that I have commanded ^H6680 you, and will keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2706 and My judgments ^H4941, 18 then I will establish ^H6965 your royal ^H4438 throne ^H3678 as I cut ^H3772 a covenant with your father ^H1 David ^H1732, saying ^H559, ‘[fn]You shall not have a man ^H376 cut ^H3772 off as ruler ^H4910 in Israel ^H3478.’

19 “But if ^H518 you turn ^H7725 away ^H7725 and forsake ^H5800 My statutes ^H2708 and My commandments ^H4687 which ^H834 I have set ^H5414 before ^H6440 you, and go ^H1980 and serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430 and worship ^H2331 them, 20 then I will uproot ^H5428 you from My land ^H127 which ^H834 I have given ^H5414 [fn]you, and this ^H2088 house ^H1004 which ^H834 I have set ^H6942 apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 for My name ^H8034 I will cast ^H7993 out ^H7993 of My presence ^H6440 and I will make ^H5414 it a proverb ^H4912 and a byword ^H8148 among all ^H3605 peoples ^H5971. 21 As for this ^H2088 house ^H1004, which ^H834 was exalted ^H5945, everyone ^H3605 who passes ^H5674 by it will feel desolate ^H8074 and say ^H559, ‘Why ^H4100 has Yahweh ^H3068 done ^H6213 thus ^H3602 to this ^H2088 land ^H776 and to this ^H2088 house ^H1004?’ 22 And they will say ^H559, ‘Because ^H5921 H834 they forsook ^H5800 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of their fathers ^H1, who ^H834 brought ^H3318 them out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 and took ^H2388 hold ^H2388 of other ^H312 gods ^H430 and worshiped ^H2331 them and served ^H5647 them, therefore ^H5921 H3651 He has brought ^H935 all ^H3605 this ^H2088 calamity ^H7451 on them.’”
