Solomon Builds Cities

1 Now it happened ^H1961 at the end ^H7093 of the twenty ^H6242 years ^H8141 in which ^H834 Solomon ^H8010 had built ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 and his own house ^H1004

2 that he built ^H1129 the cities ^H5892 which ^H834 Huram ^H2361 had given ^H5414 to [fn]him, and settled ^H3427 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 there ^H8033.

3 Then Solomon ^H8010 went ^H1980 to Hamath-zobah ^H2578 and overpowered ^H2388 it. 4 And he built ^H1129 Tadmor ^H8412 in the wilderness ^H4057 and all ^H3605 the storage ^H4543 cities ^H5892 which ^H834 he had built ^H1129 in Hamath ^H2574. 5 He also built ^H1129 upper ^H5945 Beth-horon ^H1032 and lower ^H8481 Beth-horon ^H1032, fortified ^H4692 cities ^H5892 with walls ^H2346, gates ^H1817 and bars ^H1280; 6 and Baalath ^H1191 and all ^H3605 the storage ^H4543 cities ^H5892 which Solomon ^H8010 had ^H1961, and all ^H3605 the cities ^H5892 for [fn]his chariots ^H7393, and the cities ^H5892 for [fn]his horsemen ^H6571, and all ^H3605 that Solomon ^H8010 desired ^H2836 H2837 to build ^H1129 in Jerusalem ^H3389, in Lebanon ^H3844, and in all ^H3605 the land ^H776 [fn]under his rule ^H4475.

7 As for all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 who were left ^H3498 of the Hittites ^H2850, the Amorites ^H567, the Perizzites ^H6522, the Hivites ^H2340, and the Jebusites ^H2983, who ^H834 were not of Israel ^H3478, 8 namely, from their sons ^H1121 who ^H834 were left ^H3498 after ^H310 them in the land ^H776 whom ^H834 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 had not consumed ^H3615, from them Solomon ^H8010 raised ^H5927 up ^H5927 forced ^H4522 laborers ^H4522 to this ^H2088 day ^H3117. 9 But Solomon ^H8010 did not make ^H5414 slaves ^H5650 for his work ^H4399 from the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478; for they were men ^H376 of war ^H4421, his chief ^H8269 captains ^H7991 and his chariot ^H7393 commanders ^H8269 and his horsemen ^H6571. 10 These ^H428 were the chief ^H8269 [fn]deputies ^H5333 of King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010, 250 ^H3967 H2572 who ruled ^H7287 over the people ^H5971.

11 Then Solomon ^H8010 brought ^H5927 Pharaoh’s ^H6547 daughter ^H1323 up ^H5927 from the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732 to the house ^H1004 which ^H834 he had built ^H1129 for her, for he said ^H559, “My wife ^H802 shall not live ^H3427 in the house ^H1004 of David ^H1732 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478, because ^H3588 [fn]the places ^H1992 are holy ^H6944 where ^H834 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 has entered ^H935.”

12 Then ^H227 Solomon ^H8010 offered ^H5927 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 to Yahweh ^H3068 on the altar ^H4196 of Yahweh ^H3068 which ^H834 he had built ^H1129 before ^H6440 the porch ^H197; 13 and did so according to the daily ^H3117 rule ^H1697, offering ^H5927 them up ^H5927 according to the commandment ^H4687 of Moses ^H4872, for the sabbaths ^H7676, the new ^H2320 moons ^H2320 and the three ^H7969 annual ^H6471 H8141 feasts ^H4150—the Feast ^H2282 of Unleavened ^H4682 Bread ^H4682, the Feast ^H2282 of Weeks ^H7620 and the Feast ^H2282 of Booths ^H5521.

14 And according to the judgment ^H4941 of his father ^H1 David ^H1732, he caused the divisions ^H4256 of the priests ^H3548 to stand ^H5975 for their service ^H5656, and the Levites ^H3881 for their responsibilities ^H4931 to praise ^H1984 and minister ^H8334 before ^H5048 the priests ^H3548 according to the daily ^H3117 rule ^H1697, and the gatekeepers ^H7778 by their divisions ^H4256 at every ^H8179 gate ^H8179; for David ^H1732 the man ^H376 of God ^H430 had so ^H3651 commanded ^H4687. 15 And they did not turn ^H5493 away ^H5493 from the commandment ^H4687 of the king ^H4428 to the priests ^H3548 and Levites ^H3881 in any ^H3605 manner ^H1697 or concerning the treasuries ^H214.

17 Then ^H227 Solomon ^H8010 went ^H1980 to Ezion-geber ^H6100 and to Eloth ^H359 on the shore ^H8193 of the sea ^H3220 in the land ^H776 of Edom ^H123. 18 And Huram ^H2361 by the hand of his servants ^H5650 sent ^H7971 him ships ^H591 and servants ^H5650 who knew ^H3045 the sea ^H3220; and they went ^H935 with Solomon’s ^H8010 servants ^H5650 to Ophir ^H211, and took ^H3947 from there ^H8033 [fn]450 ^{H702 H3967 H2572} talents ^H3603 of gold ^H2091 and brought ^H935 them to King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010.
