Manasseh Reigns over Judah

1 Manasseh ^H4519 was twelve ^H8147 H6240 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 fifty-five ^H2572 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389; and his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Hephzibah ^H2657.

2 And he did ^H6213 what ^H7451 was evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, according to the abominations ^H8441 of the nations ^H1471 whom ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 dispossessed ^H3423 before ^H4480 H6440 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478. 3 Indeed, he rebuilt ^H7725 H1129 the high ^H1116 places ^H1116 which ^H834 Hezekiah ^H2396 his father ^H1 had destroyed ^H6; and he erected ^H6965 altars ^H4196 for Baal ^H1168 and made ^H6213 an [fn]Asherah ^H842, as Ahab ^H256 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 had done ^H6213, and worshiped ^H2331 all ^H3605 the host ^H6635 of heaven ^H8064 and served ^H5647 them. 4 And he built ^H1129 altars ^H4196 in the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, of which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 had said ^H559, “In Jerusalem ^H3389 I will put ^H7760 My name ^H8034.” 5 Indeed, he built ^H1129 altars ^H4196 for all ^H3605 the host ^H6635 of heaven ^H8064 in the two ^H8147 courts ^H2691 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068. 6 He even made his son ^H1121 pass ^H5674 through the fire ^H784, practiced ^H6049 soothsaying ^H6049 and interpreted ^H5172 omens ^H5172, and dealt ^H6213 with mediums ^H178 and spiritists ^H3049. He did ^H6213 much ^H7235 that ^H7451 was evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068 provoking ^H3707 Him to anger. 7 Then he put ^H7760 the graven ^H6459 image ^H6459 of Asherah ^H842, which he had made ^H6213, in the house ^H1004 of which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 had said ^H559 to David ^H1732 and to Solomon ^H8010 his son ^H1121, “In this ^H2088 house ^H1004 and in Jerusalem ^H3389, which ^H834 I have chosen ^H977 from all ^H3605 the tribes ^H7626 of Israel ^H3478, I will put ^H7760 My name ^H8034 forever ^H5769. 8 And I will not make the foot ^H7272 of Israel ^H3478 wander ^H5110 anymore ^H3254 from the land ^H127 which ^H834 I gave ^H5414 their fathers ^H1, if ^H518 only ^H7534 they will be ^H8104 careful ^H8104 to do ^H6213 according to all ^H3605 that I have commanded ^H6680 them, and according to all ^H3605 the law ^H8451 that My servant ^H5650 Moses ^H4872 commanded ^H6680 them.” 9 But they did not listen ^H8085, and Manasseh ^H4519 led ^H8582 them astray ^H8582 in order to do ^H6213 more ^H4480 evil ^H7451 than ^H4480 the nations ^H1471 whom ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 destroyed ^H8045 before ^H4480 H6440 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478.

Yahweh Brings Calamity on Israel

10 Then Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 by the hand ^H3027 of His slaves ^H5650 the prophets ^H5030, saying ^H559,

11 “Because ^H3282 H834 Manasseh ^H4519 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 has done ^H6213 these ^H428 abominations ^H8441—he has done ^H7489 evil ^H7489 more ^H4480 than ^H4480 all ^H3605 the Amorites ^H567 did ^H6213 who ^H834 were before ^H6440 him—and has also ^H1571 made ^H2398 Judah ^H3063 sin ^H2398 with his idols ^H1544, 12 therefore ^H3651 thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, ‘Behold ^H2009, I am bringing ^H935 such calamity ^H7451 on Jerusalem ^H3389 and Judah ^H3063, that whoever ^H3605 hears ^H8085 of it, both ^H8147 his ears ^H241 will tingle ^H6750. 13 And I will stretch ^H5186 over ^H5921 Jerusalem ^H3389 the line ^H6957 of Samaria ^H8111 and the level ^H4949 of the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256, and I will wipe ^H4229 Jerusalem ^H3389 as one wipes ^H4229 a dish ^H6747—he wipes ^H4229 it and turns ^H2015 it upside ^H5921 H6440 down ^H6440. 14 And I will abandon ^H5203 the remnant ^H7611 of My inheritance ^H5159 and give ^H5414 them into the hand ^H3027 of their enemies ^H340, and they will become ^H1961 as plunder ^H957 and spoil ^H4933 to all ^H3605 their enemies ^H340; 15 because ^H3282 H834 they have done ^H6213 what ^H7451 is evil ^H7451 in My sight ^H5869, and have been ^H1961 provoking ^H3707 Me to ^H3707 anger ^H3707 since ^H4480 the day ^H3117 their fathers ^H1 came ^H3318 out ^H3318 of Egypt ^H4714, even to this ^H2088 day ^H3117.’”

16 Moreover ^H1571, Manasseh ^H4519 shed ^H8210 very ^H3966 much ^H7235 innocent ^H5355 blood ^H1818 until ^H5704 H834 he had filled ^H4390 Jerusalem ^H3389 from one ^H6310 end ^H6310 to another ^H6310; besides ^H905 H4480 his sin ^H2403 with which ^H834 he made Judah ^H3063 sin ^H2398, in doing ^H6213 what ^H7451 is evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068. 17 Now the rest ^H3499 of the acts ^H1697 of Manasseh ^H4519 and all ^H3605 that he did ^H6213 and his sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he sinned ^H2398, are they not written ^H3789 in the Book ^H5612 of the Chronicles ^H1697 H3117 of the Kings ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063? 18 And Manasseh ^H4519 slept ^H7901 with his fathers ^H1 and was buried ^H6912 in the garden ^H1588 of his own house ^H1004, in the garden ^H1588 of Uzza ^H5798. And Amon ^H526 his son ^H1121 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478.

Amon Reigns over Judah

19 Amon ^H526 was twenty-two ^H6242 H8147 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 two ^H8147 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389; and his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Meshullemeth ^H4922 the daughter ^H1323 of Haruz ^H2743 of Jotbah ^H3192.

20 And he did ^H6213 what ^H7451 was evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, as Manasseh ^H4519 his father ^H1 had done ^H6213. 21 And he walked ^H1980 in all ^H3605 the way ^H1870 that his father ^H1 had walked ^H1980 and served ^H5647 the idols ^H1544 that his father ^H1 had served ^H5647 and worshiped ^H2331 them. 22 So he forsook ^H5800 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of his fathers ^H1, and did not walk ^H1980 in the way ^H1870 of Yahweh ^H3068. 23 Then the servants ^H5650 of Amon ^H526 conspired ^H7194 against ^H5921 him and put ^H4191 the king ^H4428 to ^H4191 death ^H4191 in his own house ^H1004. 24 Then the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 struck ^H5221 down ^H5221 all ^H3605 those who had conspired ^H7194 against ^H5921 King ^H4428 Amon ^H526, and the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 made ^H4427 Josiah ^H2977 his son ^H1121 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478. 25 Now the rest ^H3499 of the acts ^H1697 of Amon ^H526 which ^H834 he did ^H6213, are they not written ^H3789 in the Book ^H5612 of the Chronicles ^H1697 H3117 of the Kings ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063? 26 And he was buried ^H6912 in his grave ^H6900 in the garden ^H1588 of Uzza ^H5798, and Josiah ^H2977 his son ^H1121 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478.
