The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem

1 Then David ^H1732 again ^H3254 H5750 gathered ^H622 all ^H3605 the chosen ^H977 men of Israel ^H3478, thirty ^H7970 thousand ^H505.

2 And David ^H1732 arose ^H6965 and went ^H1980 with all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 who ^H834 were with him [fn]from [fn]Baale-judah ^H1184, to bring ^H5927 up ^H5927 from there ^H8033 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 which ^H834 is called ^H7121 by the Name ^H8034, the very name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635 who is [fn]enthroned ^H3427 above the cherubim ^H3742. 3 And they [fn]drove ^H7392 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 on a new ^H2319 cart ^H5699 that they might bring ^H5375 it from the house ^H1004 of Abinadab ^H41 which ^H834 was on the hill ^H1389; and [fn]Uzzah ^H5798 and Ahio ^H283, the sons ^H1121 of Abinadab ^H41, were leading ^H5090 the new ^H2319 cart ^H5699. 4 So they brought ^H5375 it with the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 from the house ^H1004 of Abinadab ^H41, which ^H834 was on the hill ^H1389; and Ahio ^H283 was walking ^H1980 ahead ^H6440 of the ark ^H727. 5 Now David ^H1732 and all ^H3605 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 were celebrating ^H7832 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 with all ^H3605 kinds of instruments made of [fn]fir ^H1265 wood ^H6086, and with lyres ^H3658, harps ^H5035, tambourines ^H8596, castanets ^H4517, and cymbals ^H6767.

6 Then they came ^H935 to the threshing ^H1637 floor ^H1637 of Nacon ^H5225. And [fn]Uzzah ^H5798 reached ^H7971 out ^H7971 toward ^H413 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 and took ^H270 hold ^H270 of it, because the oxen ^H1241 nearly upset ^H8058 it. 7 And the anger ^H639 of Yahweh ^H3068 burned ^H2734 against Uzzah ^H5798, and God ^H430 struck ^H5221 him down ^H5221 there ^H8033 for [fn]his irreverence ^H7944; and he died ^H4191 there ^H8033 by the ark ^H727 of God ^H430. 8 And David ^H1732 became ^H2734 angry ^H2734 because ^H5921 H834 [fn]of Yahweh’s ^H3068 breaking ^H6555 H6556 out ^H6555 H6556 against Uzzah ^H5798; and that place ^H4725 is called ^H7121 [fn]Perez-uzzah ^H6560 to this ^H2088 day ^H3117. 9 So David ^H1732 was ^H3372 afraid ^H3372 of Yahweh ^H3068 that day ^H3117; and he said ^H559, “How ^H349 can the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 come ^H935 to me?” 10 And David ^H1732 was unwilling ^H3808 H14 to move ^H5493 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 into the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732 with him; but David ^H1732 took ^H5186 it aside ^H5186 to the house ^H1004 of Obed-edom ^H5654 the Gittite ^H1663. 11 Thus the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 remained ^H3427 in the house ^H1004 of Obed-edom ^H5654 the Gittite ^H1663 three ^H7969 months ^H2320, and Yahweh ^H3068 blessed ^H1288 Obed-edom ^H5654 and all ^H3605 his household ^H1004.

12 Then it was told ^H5046 to King ^H4428 David ^H1732, saying ^H559, “Yahweh ^H3068 has blessed ^H1288 the house ^H1004 of Obed-edom ^H5654 and all ^H3605 that belongs to him, on account ^H5668 of the ark ^H727 of God ^H430.” So David ^H1732 went ^H1980 and brought ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 from the house ^H1004 of Obed-edom ^H5654 into the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732 with gladness ^H8057. 13 And so it happened ^H1961, that when ^H3588 those who ^H5375 were ^H5375 carrying ^H5375 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 had gone ^H6805 six ^H8337 paces ^H6806, he sacrificed ^H2076 an ox ^H7794 and a fatling ^H4806. 14 And David ^H1732 was dancing ^H3769 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 with all ^H3605 his strength ^H5797, and David ^H1732 was girded ^H2296 with a linen ^H906 ephod ^H646. 15 So David ^H1732 and all ^H3605 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 were bringing ^H5927 up ^H5927 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 with shouting ^H8643 and the sound ^H6963 of the trumpet ^H7782.

David Dances Before Yahweh

16 Then it happened ^H1961 as the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H935 into the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732, that Michal ^H4324 the daughter ^H1323 of Saul ^H7586 looked ^H8259 out ^H8259 of the window ^H2474 and saw ^H7200 King ^H4428 David ^H1732 leaping ^H6339 and dancing ^H3769 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068; and she despised ^H959 him in her heart ^H3820.

17 And they brought ^H935 in ^H935 the ark ^H727 of Yahweh ^H3068 and placed ^H3322 it in its place ^H4725 inside ^H8432 the tent ^H168 which ^H834 David ^H1732 had pitched ^H5186 for it; and David ^H1732 offered ^H5927 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 and peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068.

18 Then David ^H1732 completed ^H3615 offering ^H5927 the burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 and the peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002. And he blessed ^H1288 the people ^H5971 in the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635. 19 And he apportioned ^H2505 to all ^H3605 the people ^H5971, to all ^H3605 the multitude ^H1995 of Israel ^H3478, both ^H4480 to men ^H376 and women ^H802, a cake ^H2471 of bread ^H3899 and one ^H259 of dates ^H829 and one ^H259 of raisins ^H809 to each ^H376 one ^H376. He uncovered ^H1540 himself today ^H3117 in the eyes ^H5869 of his servants’ ^H5650 maids ^H519 as one ^H259 of the worthless ^H7386 ones ^H7386 shamelessly ^H1540 uncovers ^H1540 himself!” 21 So David ^H1732 said ^H559 to Michal ^H4324, “It was before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068, who ^H834 chose ^H977 me above ^H4480 your father ^H1 and above ^H4480 all ^H3605 his house ^H1004, to appoint ^H6680 me ruler ^H5057 over ^H5921 the people ^H5971 of Yahweh ^H3068, over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478; therefore I will celebrate ^H7832 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068. 22 And I will be esteemed ^H7043 even ^H5750 more ^H4480 lightly ^H7043 than ^H4480 this ^H2088 and will be humble ^H8217 in my own eyes ^H5869, but with the maids ^H519 of whom ^H834 you have spoken ^H559, with them I will be ^H3513 glorified ^H3513.” 23 And Michal ^H4324 the daughter ^H1323 of Saul ^H7586 had ^H1961 no ^H3808 child ^H3206 to the day ^H3117 of her death ^H4194.
