The Commandments of Yahweh

1 Then God ^H430 spoke ^H1696 all ^H3605 these ^H428 words ^H1697, saying ^H559,

2 “I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, who ^H834 brought ^H3318 you out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714, out of the house ^H1004 of [fn]slavery ^H5650.

3 “You shall have ^H1961 no ^H3808 other ^H312 gods ^H430 [fn]before ^H5921 H6440 Me.

4 “You shall not make ^H6213 for yourself [fn]an idol ^H6459, or any ^H3605 likeness ^H8544 of what ^H834 is in heaven ^H8064 above ^H4480 H4605 or on the earth ^H776 beneath ^H8478 or in ^H8478 the water ^H4325 under ^H8478 the earth ^H776.

5 You shall not worship ^H2331 them or serve ^H5647 them; for I, Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, am a jealous ^H7067 God ^H410, visiting ^H6485 the iniquity ^H5771 of the fathers ^H1 on the children ^H1121, on the third ^H8029 and the fourth ^H7256 generations of those who hate ^H8130 Me,

6 but showing ^H6213 lovingkindness ^H2617 to thousands ^H505, to those who love ^H157 Me and keep ^H8104 My commandments ^H4687.

7 “You shall not take ^H5375 the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 in vain ^H7723, for Yahweh ^H3068 will not [fn]leave ^H5352 him unpunished ^H5352 who ^H834 takes ^H5375 His name ^H8034 in vain ^H7723.

8 “Remember ^H2142 the sabbath ^H7676 day ^H3117, to keep ^H6942 it holy ^H6942.

9 Six ^H8337 days ^H3117 you shall labor ^H5647 and do ^H6213 all ^H3605 your work ^H4399,

10 but the seventh ^H7637 day ^H3117 is a sabbath ^H7676 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430; in it you shall not do ^H6213 any ^H3605 work ^H4399, you or your son ^H1121 or your daughter ^H1323, your male ^H5650 or your female ^H519 slave ^H5650 H519 or your cattle ^H929 or your sojourner ^H1616 who ^H834 is within your gates ^H8179.

11 For in six ^H8337 days ^H3117 Yahweh ^H3068 made ^H6213 the heavens ^H8064 and the earth ^H776, the sea ^H3220 and all ^H3605 that is in them, and rested ^H5117 on the seventh ^H7637 day ^H3117; therefore ^H5921 H3651 Yahweh ^H3068 blessed ^H1288 the sabbath ^H7676 day ^H3117 and made ^H6942 it holy ^H6942.

12 “Honor ^H3513 your father ^H1 and your mother ^H517, that your days ^H3117 may be prolonged ^H748 in the land ^H127 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 gives ^H5414 you.

13 “You shall not murder ^H7523.

14 “You shall not commit ^H5003 adultery ^H5003.

15 “You shall not steal ^H1589.

16 “You shall not bear ^H6030 false ^H8267 witness ^H5707 against your neighbor ^H7453.

17 “You shall not covet ^H2530 your neighbor’s ^H7453 house ^H1004; you shall not covet ^H2530 your neighbor’s ^H7453 wife ^H802 or his male ^H5650 slave ^H5650 or his female ^H519 slave ^H519 or his ox ^H7794 or his donkey ^H2543 or anything ^H3605 that belongs to your neighbor ^H7453.”

18 And all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 perceived ^H7200 the [fn]thunder ^H6963 and the lightning ^H3940 flashes ^H3940 and the sound ^H6963 of the trumpet ^H7782 and the mountain ^H2022 smoking ^H6226; and the people ^H5971 perceived ^H7200 it, and they shook ^H5128 and stood ^H5975 at a distance ^H7350. 19 Then they said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Speak ^H1696 [fn]to us yourself ^H859, and we will listen ^H8085; but let not God ^H430 speak ^H1696 [fn]to us, lest ^H6435 we die ^H4191.” 20 And Moses ^H4872 said ^H559 to the people ^H5971, “Do not be ^H3372 afraid ^H3372; for God ^H430 has come ^H935 in order ^H5668 to test ^H5254 you, and in order ^H5668 that the fear ^H3374 of Him may [fn]be ^H1961 H6440 with you, so that you may not sin ^H2398.” 21 So the people ^H5971 stood ^H5975 at a distance ^H7350, but Moses ^H4872 came ^H5066 near ^H5066 the dense ^H6205 gloom ^H6205 where ^H834 H8033 God ^H430 was.

22 Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Thus ^H3541 you shall say ^H559 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, ‘You yourselves ^H859 have seen ^H7200 that I have spoken ^H1696 [fn]to you from heaven ^H8064. 23 You shall not make ^H6213 other gods besides ^H854 Me; gods ^H430 of silver ^H3701 or gods ^H430 of gold ^H2091, you shall not make ^H6213 for yourselves ^H859. 24 You shall make ^H6213 an altar ^H4196 of earth ^H127 for Me, and you shall sacrifice ^H2076 on it your burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 and your peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002, your sheep ^H6629 and your oxen ^H1241; in every ^H3605 place ^H4725 where ^H834 I cause My name ^H8034 to be remembered ^H2142, I will come ^H935 to you and bless ^H1288 you. 25 And if ^H518 you make ^H6213 an altar ^H4196 of stone ^H68 for Me, you shall not build ^H1129 it of cut ^H1496 stones ^H1496, for if you wield ^H5130 your tool ^H2719 on it, you will profane ^H2490 it. 26 And you shall not go ^H5927 up ^H5927 by steps ^H4609 to My altar ^H4196, so ^H834 that ^H834 your nakedness ^H6172 will not be exposed ^H1540 on it.’
