The Plague of Frogs

1 [fn]Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Come ^H935 to Pharaoh ^H6547 and say ^H559 to him, ‘Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, “Let ^H7971 My people ^H5971 go ^H7971, that they may serve ^H5647 Me.

2 But if ^H518 you refuse ^H3986 to let ^H7971 them go ^H7971, behold ^H2009, I [fn]will smite ^H5062 your whole ^H3605 territory ^H1366 with frogs ^H6854. 3 And the Nile ^H2975 will swarm ^H8317 with frogs ^H6854, and they will go ^H5927 up ^H5927 and come ^H935 into your house ^H1004 and into your bedroom ^H2315 H4904 and on your bed ^H4296 and into the houses ^H1004 of your servants ^H5650 and on your people ^H5971 and into your ovens ^H8574 and into your kneading ^H4863 bowls ^H4863. 4 So the frogs ^H6854 will come ^H5927 up ^H5927 on you and on your people ^H5971 and on all ^H3605 your servants ^H5650.”’” 5 [fn]Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Say ^H559 to Aaron ^H175, ‘Stretch ^H5186 out ^H5186 your hand ^H3027 with your staff ^H4294 over ^H5921 the rivers ^H5104, over ^H5921 the [fn]streams ^H2975 and over ^H5921 the pools ^H98, and cause ^H5927 the frogs ^H6854 to come ^H5927 up ^H5927 on the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.’” 6 So Aaron ^H175 stretched ^H5186 out ^H5186 his hand ^H3027 over ^H5921 the waters ^H4325 of Egypt ^H4714, and the [fn]frogs ^H6854 came ^H5927 up ^H5927 and covered ^H3680 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 7 And the [fn]magicians ^H2748 did ^H6213 [fn]the same ^H3651 with their secret ^H3909 arts ^H3909; they caused ^H5927 the frogs ^H6854 to come ^H5927 up ^H5927 on the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.

8 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 called ^H7121 for Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 and said ^H559, “Entreat ^H6279 Yahweh ^H3068 that He may cause ^H5493 the frogs ^H6854 to depart ^H5493 from me and from my people ^H5971; and I will let ^H7971 the people ^H5971 go ^H7971, that they may sacrifice ^H2076 to Yahweh ^H3068.” 9 And Moses ^H4872 said ^H559 to Pharaoh ^H6547, “[fn]May the ^H6286 honor ^H6286 be ^H6286 yours ^H6286 to tell me: when ^H4970 shall I entreat ^H6279 for you and for your servants ^H5650 and for your people ^H5971, that the frogs ^H6854 be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from you and your houses ^H1004, that they may remain ^H7604 only ^H7534 in the Nile ^H2975?”

10 Then he said ^H559, “Tomorrow ^H4279.” So he said ^H559, “May it be according to your word ^H1697, that you may know ^H3045 that there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 like Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430. 11 And the frogs ^H6854 will depart ^H5493 from you and your houses ^H1004 and your servants ^H5650 and your people ^H5971; they will remain ^H7604 only ^H7534 in the Nile ^H2975.” 12 Then Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 went ^H3318 out ^H3318 from Pharaoh ^H6547, and Moses ^H4872 cried ^H6817 out ^H6817 to Yahweh ^H3068 concerning ^H5921 H1697 the frogs ^H6854 which ^H834 He had set ^H7760 upon Pharaoh ^H6547. 13 So Yahweh ^H3068 did ^H6213 according to the word ^H1697 of Moses ^H4872, and the frogs ^H6854 died ^H4191 out of the houses ^H1004, the courts ^H2691, and the fields ^H7704. 14 So they piled ^H6651 them in heaps ^H2563, and the land ^H776 [fn]became ^H887 foul ^H887. 15 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 saw ^H7200 that there was relief ^H7309, and he [fn]hardened ^H3513 his heart ^H3820 with firmness ^H3513 and did not listen ^H8085 to them, as Yahweh ^H3068 had spoken ^H1696.

The Plague of Gnats

16 Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Say ^H559 to Aaron ^H175, ‘Stretch ^H5186 out ^H5186 your staff ^H4294 and strike ^H5221 the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776, that it may become ^H1961 [fn]gnats ^H3654 through all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.’”

17 And they did ^H6213 so ^H3651; and Aaron ^H175 stretched ^H5186 out ^H5186 his hand ^H3027 with his staff ^H4294 and struck ^H5221 the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776, and there were [fn]gnats ^H3654 on man ^H120 and beast ^H929. All ^H3605 the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776 became ^H1961 [fn]gnats ^H3654 through all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 18 Then [fn]the magicians ^H2748 did ^H6213 the same with their secret ^H3909 arts ^H3909 in order to bring ^H3318 forth ^H3318 [fn]gnats ^H3654, but they could ^H3201 not; so there were [fn]gnats ^H3654 on man ^H120 and beast ^H929. 19 And the [fn]magicians ^H2748 said ^H559 to Pharaoh ^H6547, “This ^H1931 is the finger ^H676 of God ^H430.” But Pharaoh’s ^H6547 heart ^H3820 was [fn]hardened ^H2388 with strength ^H2388, and he did not listen ^H8085 to them, as Yahweh ^H3068 had spoken ^H1696.

The Plague of Flies

20 And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Rise ^H7925 early ^H7925 in the morning ^H1242 and stand ^H3320 before ^H6440 Pharaoh ^H6547 [fn]as he comes ^H3318 out ^H3318 to the water ^H4325, and you shall say ^H559 to him, ‘Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, “Let ^H7971 My people ^H5971 go ^H7971, that they may serve ^H5647 Me.

21 For if ^H518 you do not let ^H7971 My people ^H5971 go ^H7971, behold ^H2009, I will send ^H7971 swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157 on you and on your servants ^H5650 and on your people ^H5971 and into your houses ^H1004; and the houses ^H1004 of the Egyptians ^H4714 will be full ^H4390 of swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157, and also ^H1571 the ground ^H127 on which ^H834 they stand. 22 But on that day ^H3117 I will make ^H6395 a distinction ^H6395 for the land ^H776 of Goshen ^H1657, where ^H834 My people ^H5971 are [fn]living ^H5975, so that no ^H1115 swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157 will be there ^H8033, that ^H4616 you may know ^H3045 that [fn]I, Yahweh ^H3068, am in the midst ^H7130 of the land ^H776. 23 And I will [fn]put ^H7760 a division ^H6304 between ^H996 My people ^H5971 and your people ^H5971. Tomorrow ^H4279 this ^H2088 sign ^H226 will happen ^H1961.”’” 24 Then Yahweh ^H3068 did ^H6213 so ^H3651. And there came ^H935 heavy ^H3515 swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157 into the house ^H1004 of Pharaoh ^H6547 and the houses ^H1004 of his servants ^H5650, and the land ^H776 was laid ^H7843 waste ^H7843 because ^H4480 H6440 of the swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157 in all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.

25 And Pharaoh ^H6547 called ^H7121 for Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 and said ^H559, “Go ^H1980, sacrifice ^H2076 to your God ^H430 within the land ^H776.” 26 But Moses ^H4872 said ^H559, “It is ^H3559 not right ^H3559 to do ^H6213 so ^H3651, for we will sacrifice ^H2076 to Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430 [fn]what is an abomination ^H8441 to the Egyptians ^H4714. If ^H2005 we sacrifice ^H2076 [fn]what is an abomination ^H8441 to the Egyptians ^H4714 before their eyes ^H5869, will they not then stone ^H5619 us? 27 We must go ^H1980 a three ^H7969 days’ ^H3117 journey ^H1870 into the wilderness ^H4057 and sacrifice ^H2076 to Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430 as He says ^H559 to us.” 28 And Pharaoh ^H6547 said ^H559, “I will let ^H7971 you go ^H7971, that you may sacrifice ^H2076 to Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 in the wilderness ^H4057; only ^H7534 you shall not go ^H1980 very ^H7368 far ^H7368 away ^H7368. Entreat ^H6279 for me.” 29 Then Moses ^H4872 said ^H559, “Behold ^H2009, I am going ^H3318 out ^H3318 from you, and I shall entreat ^H6279 Yahweh ^H3068 that the swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157 may depart ^H5493 from Pharaoh ^H6547, from his servants ^H5650, and from his people ^H5971 tomorrow ^H4279; only ^H7534 may Pharaoh ^H6547 not deal ^H8524 deceitfully ^H8524 again ^H3254 in not letting ^H7971 the people ^H5971 go ^H7971 to sacrifice ^H2076 to Yahweh ^H3068.”

30 So Moses ^H4872 went ^H3318 out ^H3318 from Pharaoh ^H6547 and entreated ^H6279 Yahweh ^H3068. 31 And Yahweh ^H3068 did ^H6213 according to the word ^H1697 of Moses ^H4872 and caused ^H5493 the swarms ^H6157 of ^H6157 flies ^H6157 to depart ^H5493 from Pharaoh ^H6547, from his servants ^H5650, and from his people ^H5971; not one ^H259 remained ^H7604. 32 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 [fn]hardened ^H3513 his heart ^H3820 with firmness ^H3513 this ^H2088 time ^H6471 also ^H1571, and he did not let ^H7971 the people ^H5971 go ^H7971.
