Adam and Eve Sent Out from the Garden

1 Now the serpent ^H5175 was more ^H4480 crafty ^H6175 than ^H4480 any ^H3605 beast ^H2416 of the field ^H7704 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 had made ^H6213. And he said ^H559 to the woman ^H802, “Indeed ^H637 H3588, has God ^H430 said ^H559, ‘[fn]You shall not eat ^H398 from [fn]any ^H3605 tree ^H6086 of the garden ^H1588’?”

2 And the woman ^H802 said ^H559 to the serpent ^H5175, “From the fruit ^H6529 of the trees ^H6086 of the garden ^H1588 we may eat ^H398; 3 but from the fruit ^H6529 of the tree ^H6086 which ^H834 is in the midst ^H8432 of the garden ^H1588, God ^H430 said ^H559, ‘You shall not eat ^H398 from it, and you shall not touch ^H5060 it, lest ^H6435 you die ^H4191.’” 4 And the serpent ^H5175 said ^H559 to the woman ^H802, “You surely ^H4191 will not die ^H4191! 5 For God ^H430 knows ^H3045 that in the day ^H3117 you eat ^H398 from it your eyes ^H5869 will be opened ^H6491, and you will be like God ^H430, knowing ^H3045 good ^H2896 and evil ^H7451.” 6 Then the woman ^H802 saw ^H7200 that the tree ^H6086 was good ^H2896 for food ^H3978, and that it was a delight ^H8378 to the eyes ^H5869, and that the tree ^H6086 was desirable ^H2530 to make ^H7919 one wise ^H7919, so she took ^H3947 from its fruit ^H6529 and ate ^H398; and she gave ^H5414 also ^H1571 to her husband ^H376 with her, and he ate ^H398. 7 And the eyes ^H5869 of both ^H8147 of them were opened ^H6491, and they knew ^H3045 that they were naked ^H5903; and they sewed ^H8609 fig ^H8384 leaves ^H5929 together ^H8609 and made ^H6213 themselves ^H1992 [fn]loin ^H2290 coverings ^H2290.

8 Then they heard ^H8085 the sound ^H6963 of Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 walking ^H1980 in the garden ^H1588 in the [fn]cool ^H7307 of the day ^H3117, and the man ^H120 and his wife ^H802 hid ^H2244 themselves from the presence ^H6440 of Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 in the midst ^H8432 of the trees ^H6086 of the garden ^H1588. 9 Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 called ^H7121 to the man ^H120 and said ^H559 to him, “Where ^H335 are you?” 10 And he said ^H559, “I heard ^H8085 the sound ^H6963 of You in the garden ^H1588, and I was ^H3372 afraid ^H3372 because ^H3588 I was naked ^H5903; so I hid ^H2244.” 11 And He said ^H559, “Who ^H4310 told ^H5046 you that you were naked ^H5903? Have you eaten ^H398 from the tree ^H6086 of which ^H834 I commanded ^H6680 you not to eat ^H398?” 12 And the man ^H120 said ^H559, “The woman ^H802 whom ^H834 You gave ^H5414 to be with me, she gave ^H5414 to me from the tree ^H6086, and I ate ^H398.” 13 Then Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 said ^H559 to the woman ^H802, “What ^H4100 is this ^H2088 you have done ^H6213?” And the woman ^H802 said ^H559, “The serpent ^H5175 deceived ^H5378 me, and I ate ^H398.” 14 And Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 said ^H559 to the serpent ^H5175,

“Because ^H3588 you have done ^H6213 this ^H2088,

Cursed ^H779 are you more ^H4480 than ^H4480 any ^H3605 of the cattle ^H929,

And more ^H4480 than ^H4480 every ^H3605 beast ^H2416 of the field ^H7704;

On your belly ^H1512 you will go ^H1980,

And dust ^H6083 you will eat ^H398

All ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of your life ^H2416;

15 And I will put ^H7896 enmity ^H342

Between ^H996 you and the woman ^H802,

And between ^H996 your seed ^H2233 and her seed ^H2233;

He shall [fn]bruise ^H7779 you on the head ^H7218,

And you shall bruise ^H7779 him on the heel ^H6119.”

16 To the woman ^H802 He said ^H559,

“I will greatly ^H7235 multiply ^H7235

Your pain ^H6093 and [fn]conception ^H2032,

In pain ^H6089 you will [fn]bear ^H3205 children ^H1121;

Your desire ^H8669 will be for your husband ^H376,

And he will rule ^H4910 over you.”

17 Then to Adam ^H121 He said ^H559, “Because ^H3588 you have listened ^H8085 to the voice ^H6963 of your wife ^H802 and have eaten ^H398 from the tree ^H6086 about which ^H834 I commanded ^H6680 you, saying ^H559, ‘You shall not eat ^H398 from it’;

Cursed ^H779 is the ground ^H127 because ^H5668 of you;

In [fn]pain ^H6093 you will eat ^H398 of it

All ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of your life ^H2416.

18 “Both thorns ^H6975 and thistles ^H1863 it shall grow ^H6779 for you;

And you will eat ^H398 the [fn]plants ^H6212 of the field ^H7704;

19 By the sweat ^H2188 of your [fn]face ^H639

You will eat ^H398 bread ^H3899,

Till ^H5704 you return ^H7725 to the ground ^H127,

Because ^H3588 from it you were taken ^H3947;

For you are dust ^H6083,

And to dust ^H6083 you shall return ^H7725.”

20 Now the man ^H120 called ^H7121 his wife’s ^H802 name ^H8034 [fn]Eve ^H2332, because ^H3588 she was the mother ^H517 of all ^H3605 the living ^H2416. 21 Then Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 made ^H6213 garments ^H3801 of skin ^H5785 for Adam ^H121 and his wife ^H802, and He clothed ^H3847 them.

22 Then Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 said ^H559, “Behold ^H2005, the man ^H120 has become ^H1961 like one ^H259 of Us [fn]to know ^H3045 good ^H2896 and evil ^H7451; and now ^H6258, lest ^H6435 he send ^H7971 forth his hand ^H3027 and take ^H3947 also ^H1571 from the tree ^H6086 of life ^H2416 and eat ^H398 and live ^H2421 forever ^H5769”— 23 therefore Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430 sent ^H7971 him out ^H7971 from the garden ^H1588 of Eden ^H5731, to [fn]cultivate ^H5647 the ground ^H127 from which ^H834 he was taken ^H3947. 24 So He drove ^H1644 the man ^H120 out ^H1644; and at the east ^H6924 of the garden ^H1588 of Eden ^H5731 He stationed ^H7931 the cherubim ^H3742 and the flaming ^H3858 sword ^H2719 which turned ^H2015 every direction to [fn]guard ^H8104 the way ^H1870 to the tree ^H6086 of life ^H2416.
