Jacob Assembles His Sons

1 Then Jacob ^H3290 summoned ^H7121 his sons ^H1121 and said ^H559, “Gather ^H622 together ^H622 that I may tell ^H5046 you what ^H834 will befall ^H7122 you in the last ^H319 days ^H3117.

2 “Assemble ^H6908 together ^H6908 and hear ^H8085, O sons ^H1121 of Jacob ^H3290;

And listen ^H8085 to Israel ^H3478 your father ^H1.

3 “Reuben ^H7205, you are my firstborn ^H1060;

My might ^H3581 and the beginning ^H7225 of my vigor ^H202,

[fn]Preeminent ^H3499 in dignity ^H7613 and [fn]preeminent ^H3499 in strength ^H5794.

4 “[fn]Uncontrolled ^H6349 as water ^H4325, you shall not have ^H3498 preeminence ^H3498,

Because ^H3588 you went ^H5927 up ^H5927 to your father’s ^H1 bed ^H4904;

Then ^H227 you defiled ^H2490 it—he went ^H5927 up ^H5927 to my couch ^H3326.

5 “Simeon ^H8095 and Levi ^H3878 are brothers ^H251;

Their swords ^H4380 are implements ^H3627 of violence ^H2555.

6 “Let my soul ^H5315 not enter ^H935 into their council ^H5475;

Let not my glory ^H3519 be united ^H3161 with their assembly ^H6951;

7 “Cursed ^H779 be their anger ^H639, for it is strong ^H5794;

I will divide ^H2505 them amongst Jacob ^H3290,

21 “Naphtali ^H5321 is a doe ^H355 let ^H7971 loose ^H7971,

He gives ^H5414 beautiful ^H8233 words ^H561.

22 “Joseph ^H3130 is a fruitful ^H6509 [fn]bough ^H1121,

26 “The blessings ^H1293 of your father ^H1

Have surpassed ^H1396 the blessings ^H1293 of my ancestors ^H2029

Up to the [fn]utmost ^H8379 bound ^H8379 of the everlasting ^H5769 hills ^H1389;

May they be on the head ^H7218 of Joseph ^H3130,

And on the top ^H6936 of ^H6936 the ^H6936 head ^H6936 of the one ^H5139 distinguished ^H5139 among his brothers ^H251.

27 “Benjamin ^H1144 is a [fn]ravenous ^H2963 wolf ^H2061;

In the morning ^H1242 he devours ^H398 the prey ^H5706,

And in the evening ^H6153 he divides ^H2505 the spoil ^H7998.”

Jacob Breathes His Last
