Hezekiah’s Illness and Recovery

1 In those ^H1992 days ^H3117 Hezekiah ^H2396 became ^H2470 ill ^H2470 to the point ^H4191 of death ^H4191. And Isaiah ^H3470 the prophet ^H5030 the son ^H1121 of Amoz ^H531 came ^H935 to him and said ^H559 to him, “Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, ‘Set ^H6680 your house ^H1004 in ^H6680 order ^H6680, for you shall die ^H4191 and not live ^H2421.’”

2 Then Hezekiah ^H2396 turned ^H5437 his face ^H6440 to the wall ^H7023 and prayed ^H6419 to Yahweh ^H3068 3 and said ^H559, “Remember ^H2142 now ^H4994, O ^H577 Yahweh ^H3068, I beseech ^H577 You, how ^H834 I have walked ^H1980 before ^H6440 You in truth ^H571 and with a whole ^H8003 heart ^H3820 and have done ^H6213 what ^H2896 is ^H2896 good ^H2896 in Your sight ^H5869.” And Hezekiah ^H2396 wept ^H1058 [fn]greatly ^H1419.

4 Then the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Isaiah ^H3470, saying ^H559, 5 “Go ^H1980 and say ^H559 to Hezekiah ^H2396, ‘Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of your father ^H1 David ^H1732, “I have heard ^H8085 your prayer ^H8605; I have seen ^H7200 your tears ^H1832; behold ^H2009, I will add ^H3254 fifteen ^H2568 H6240 years ^H8141 to your [fn]life ^H3117. 6 And I will deliver ^H5337 you and this ^H2088 city ^H5892 from the hand ^H3709 of the king ^H4428 of Assyria ^H804; and I will defend ^H1598 this ^H2088 city ^H5892.”’

11 I said ^H559, “I will not see ^H7200 Yah ^H3050,

Yah ^H3050 in the land ^H776 of the living ^H2416;

I will look ^H5027 on man ^H120 no ^H3808 more ^H5750 among ^H5973 the inhabitants ^H3427 of the world ^H2465.

12 “Like a shepherd’s ^H7473 tent ^H168 my dwelling ^H1755 is pulled ^H5265 up ^H5265 and removed ^H1540 from me;

As a weaver ^H707 I rolled ^H7088 up my life ^H2416.

He cuts ^H1214 me off ^H1214 from the loom ^H1803;

13 “I soothed ^H7737 my soul until ^H5704 morning ^H1242.

15 “What ^H4100 shall I say ^H1696?

[fn]Indeed, He has spoken ^H559 to me, and He Himself ^H1931 has done ^H6213 it;

I will wander ^H1718 about all ^H3605 my years ^H8141 because ^H5921 of the bitterness ^H4751 of my soul ^H5315.

16 “O Lord ^H136, by these things men live ^H2421,

And in all ^H3605 these is the life ^H2416 of my spirit ^H7307;

[fn]O restore ^H2492 me to ^H2492 health ^H2492 and let me live ^H2421!

17 “Behold ^H2009, for my own well-being ^H7965 I had great ^H4751 bitterness ^H4751;

But it is You who has [fn]held ^H2820 back ^H2820 my soul ^H5315 from the pit ^H7845 of [fn]nothingness ^H1097,

For You have cast ^H7993 all ^H3605 my sins ^H2399 behind ^H310 Your back ^H1460.

18 “For Sheol ^H7585 cannot ^H3808 thank ^H3034 You;

Death ^H4194 cannot praise ^H1984 You;

Those who go ^H3381 down ^H3381 to the pit ^H953 cannot ^H3808 keep ^H7663 watch ^H7663 for Your truth ^H571.

19 “It is the living ^H2416, the living ^H2416 who give ^H3034 thanks ^H3034 to You, as I do today ^H3117;

A father ^H1 makes known ^H3045 to his sons ^H1121 about ^H413 Your truth ^H571.

20 “Yahweh ^H3068 is here to save ^H3467 me;

So we will play ^H5059 my songs ^H5058 on ^H5058 stringed ^H5058 instruments ^H5058

All ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of our life ^H2416 at the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068.”

21 Now Isaiah ^H3470 had said ^H559, “Let them take ^H5375 up ^H5375 a cake ^H1690 of figs ^H8384 and apply ^H4799 it to the boil ^H7822, that he may live ^H2421.” 22 Then Hezekiah ^H2396 had said ^H559, “What ^H4100 is the sign ^H226 that I shall go ^H5927 up ^H5927 to the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068?”
