Evil Leaders Rebuked

1 The righteous ^H6662 man ^H6662 perishes ^H6, and no ^H369 man ^H376 puts ^H7760 it upon his heart ^H3820;

And men ^H376 of lovingkindness ^H2617 are gathered ^H622 away ^H622, while no ^H369 one ^H369 understands ^H995.

For the righteous ^H6662 man ^H6662 is gathered ^H622 away ^H622 from evil ^H7451,

2 He enters ^H935 into peace ^H7965;

They rest ^H5117 in their [fn]beds ^H4904,

Each one who walked ^H1980 in his upright ^H5228 way ^H5228.

3 “But draw ^H7126 near ^H2008, you sons ^H1121 of a soothsayer ^H6049,

Seed ^H2233 of an adulterer ^H5003 and [fn]a prostitute ^H2181.

4 “Against ^H5921 whom ^H4310 do you jest ^H6026?

Against ^H5921 whom ^H4310 do you open ^H7337 wide ^H7337 your mouth ^H6310

And stick ^H748 out ^H748 your tongue ^H3956?

Are you not children ^H3206 of transgression ^H6588,

Seed ^H2233 of lying ^H8267,

5 Who inflame ^H2552 yourselves among the [fn]oaks ^H352,

Under ^H8478 every ^H3605 green ^H7488 tree ^H6086,

Who slaughter ^H7819 the children ^H3206 in the [fn]ravines ^H5158,

Under ^H8478 the clefts ^H5585 of the cliffs ^H5553?

6 “Among the [fn]smooth ^H2509 stones of the [fn]ravine ^H5158

Is your portion ^H2506, [fn]they are your lot ^H1486;

Even ^H1571 to them you have poured ^H8210 out ^H8210 a drink ^H5262 offering ^H5262;

You have made ^H5927 a grain offering ^H4503.

Shall I [fn]relent ^H5162 concerning ^H5921 these ^H428 things ^H428?

7 “Upon a mountain ^H2022 lofty ^H1364 and lifted ^H5375 up ^H5375

You have made ^H7760 your bed ^H4904.

You also ^H1571 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 there ^H8033 to offer ^H2076 sacrifice ^H2077.

8 “Behind ^H310 the door ^H1817 and the doorpost ^H4201

You have set ^H7760 up ^H7760 your memorial ^H2146;

Indeed ^H3588, far removed ^H4480 from Me, you have uncovered ^H1540 yourself,

And have gone ^H5927 up ^H5927 and made ^H7337 your bed ^H4904 wide ^H7337,

And you have cut ^H3772 a covenant for yourself with them;

You have loved ^H157 their [fn]bed ^H4904;

You have looked ^H2372 on their [fn]manhood ^H3027.

9 “You have journeyed ^H7788 to the king ^H4428 with oil ^H8081

And increased ^H7235 your perfumes ^H7547;

You have sent ^H7971 your envoys ^H6735 a great distance ^H7350

And made ^H8213 them go ^H8213 down ^H8213 to Sheol ^H7585.

10 “You were tired ^H3021 out ^H3021 by the length ^H7230 of your road ^H1870,

Yet you did not say ^H559, ‘It is hopeless ^H2976.’

You found ^H4672 [fn]renewed ^H2416 strength ^H3027;

Therefore ^H5921 H3651 you did not [fn]faint ^H2470.

11 “Of whom ^H4310 were ^H1672 you anxious ^H1672 and fearful ^H3372

When ^H3588 you lied ^H3576 and did not remember ^H2142 Me,

Nor ^H3808 even put ^H7760 Me upon your heart ^H3820?

Was I not silent ^H2814 even for a long ^H5769 time ^H5769

So you do not fear ^H3372 Me?

12 “I will declare ^H5046 your righteousness ^H6666 and your deeds ^H4639,

But they will not profit ^H3276 you.

13 “When you cry ^H2199 out ^H2199, let your collection ^H6899 of idols deliver ^H5337 you.

But the wind ^H7307 will lift ^H5375 all ^H3605 of them up ^H5375,

And a breath ^H1892 will take ^H3947 them away.

But he who takes ^H2620 refuge ^H2620 in Me will inherit ^H5157 the land ^H776

And will possess ^H3423 My holy ^H6944 mountain ^H2022.”

Yahweh Revives the Spirit of the Lowly

14 And it will be said ^H559,

“Build ^H5549 up ^H5549, build ^H5549 up ^H5549, prepare ^H6437 the way ^H1870,

[fn]Remove ^H7311 every stumbling ^H4383 block ^H4383 out of the way ^H1870 of My people ^H5971.”

15 For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 the One high ^H7311 and lifted ^H5375 up ^H5375

Who dwells ^H7931 forever ^H5703, whose name ^H8034 is Holy ^H6918,

“I dwell ^H7931 on a high ^H4791 and holy ^H6918 place,

And also with the crushed ^H1793 and lowly ^H8217 of spirit ^H7307

In order to revive ^H2421 the spirit ^H7307 of the lowly ^H8217

And to revive ^H2421 the heart ^H3820 of the crushed ^H1792.

16 “For I will not contend ^H7378 forever ^H5769,

Nor ^H3808 will I always ^H5331 be ^H7107 angry ^H7107;

For the spirit ^H7307 would grow ^H5848 faint ^H5848 before ^H4480 H6440 Me,

And the breath ^H5397 of those whom I have made ^H6213.

17 “Because of the iniquity ^H5771 of his greedy ^H1215 gain ^H1215 I was ^H7107 angry ^H7107 and struck ^H5221 him;

I hid ^H5641 My face and was ^H7107 angry ^H7107,

And he went ^H1980 on turning ^H7726 away ^H7726, in the way ^H1870 of his heart ^H3820.

18 “I have seen ^H7200 his ways ^H1870, but I will heal ^H7495 him;

I will lead ^H5148 him and pay ^H7999 him and his mourners ^H57 in full ^H7999 with comfort ^H5150,

19 Creating ^H1254 the [fn]praise ^H5108 of the lips ^H8193.

Peace ^H7965, peace ^H7965 to him who is far ^H7350 and to him who is near ^H7138,”

Says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, “and I will heal ^H7495 him.”

20 But the wicked ^H7563 are like the tossing ^H1644 sea ^H3220,

For it cannot ^H3201 H3808 be ^H8252 quiet ^H8252,

And its waters ^H4325 toss ^H1644 up ^H1644 refuse ^H7516 and mud ^H2916.

21 “There ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 peace ^H7965,” says ^H559 my God ^H430, “for the wicked ^H7563.”
