Yahweh Withdraws His Favor

1 The word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 also came ^H1961 to me saying ^H559,

2 “You shall not take a wife ^H802 for yourself nor ^H3808 have ^H1961 sons ^H1121 or daughters ^H1323 in this ^H2088 place ^H4725.” 3 For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 concerning ^H5921 the sons ^H1121 and daughters ^H1323 born ^H3209 in this ^H2088 place ^H4725 and concerning ^H5921 their mothers ^H517 who bear ^H3205 them and their fathers ^H1 who beget ^H3205 them in this ^H2088 land ^H776: 4 “They will die ^H4191 of deadly ^H4463 diseases ^H8463; they will not be lamented ^H5594 or buried ^H6912; they will be as dung ^H1828 on the surface ^H6440 of the ground ^H127 and come ^H3615 to ^H3615 an ^H3615 end ^H3615 by sword ^H2719 and famine ^H7458, and their carcasses ^H5038 will become ^H1961 food ^H3978 for the birds ^H5775 of the sky ^H8064 and for the beasts ^H929 of the earth ^H776.”

5 For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, “Do not enter ^H935 the house ^H1004 of the funeral ^H4798 meal ^H4798, or go ^H1980 to lament ^H5594 or to console ^H5110 them; for I have withdrawn ^H622 My peace ^H7965 from this ^H2088 people ^H5971,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068, “My lovingkindness ^H2617 and compassion ^H7356. 6 Both great ^H1419 men ^H1419 and small ^H6996 will die ^H4191 in this ^H2088 land ^H776; they will not be buried ^H6912; they will not be lamented ^H5594, nor ^H3808 will anyone gash ^H1413 himself or shave ^H7139 his head ^H7139 for them. 7 Men will not break ^H6536 bread in mourning ^H60 for them, to comfort ^H5162 anyone for the dead ^H4191, nor ^H3808 give ^H8248 them a cup ^H3563 of comforting ^H8575 to ^H8248 drink ^H8248 for anyone’s father ^H1 or mother ^H517. 8 Moreover you shall not go ^H935 into a house ^H1004 of feasting ^H4960 to sit ^H3427 with them to eat ^H398 and drink ^H8354.” 9 For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478: “Behold ^H2009, I am going to cause ^H7673 to cease ^H7673 from this ^H2088 place ^H4725, before your eyes ^H5869 and in your days ^H3117, the voice ^H6963 of rejoicing ^H8342 and the voice ^H6963 of gladness ^H8057, the voice ^H6963 of the groom ^H2860 and the voice ^H6963 of the bride ^H3618.

10 “Now when ^H3588 you tell ^H5046 this ^H2088 people ^H5971 all ^H3605 these ^H428 words ^H1697, they will say ^H559 to you, ‘For ^H5921 what ^H4100 reason ^H5921 H4100 has Yahweh ^H3068 declared ^H1696 all ^H3605 this ^H2088 great ^H1419 calamity ^H7451 against ^H5921 us? And what ^H4100 is our iniquity ^H5771, or what ^H4100 is our sin ^H2403 which ^H834 we have committed ^H2398 against Yahweh ^H3068 our God ^H430?’ 11 Then you are to say ^H559 to them, ‘It is because ^H5921 H834 your fathers ^H1 have forsaken ^H5800 Me,’ declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068, ‘and have walked ^H1980 after ^H310 other ^H312 gods ^H430 and served ^H5647 them and worshiped ^H2331 them; but Me they have forsaken ^H5800 and have not kept ^H8104 My law ^H8451. 12 You too have done ^H6213 evil ^H7451, even more ^H4480 than ^H4480 your fathers ^H1; for behold ^H2009, you are each ^H376 one ^H376 walking ^H1980 according ^H310 to the stubbornness ^H8307 of his own evil ^H7451 heart ^H3820, without ^H1115 listening ^H8085 to Me. 13 So I will hurl ^H2904 you out ^H2904 of this ^H2088 land ^H776 into the land ^H776 which ^H834 you have not known ^H3045, neither you nor ^H3808 your fathers ^H1; and there ^H8033 you will serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430 day ^H3119 and night ^H3915, for I will grant ^H5414 you no ^H3808 favor ^H2594.’

They Shall Know My Name Is Yahweh

14 “Therefore ^H3651 behold ^H2009, days ^H3117 are coming ^H935,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068, “when it will no ^H3808 longer ^H5750 be said ^H559, ‘As Yahweh ^H3068 lives ^H2416, who ^H834 brought ^H5927 up ^H5927 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 out of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714,’

15 but, ‘As Yahweh ^H3068 lives ^H2416, who ^H834 brought ^H5927 up ^H5927 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 from the land ^H776 of the north ^H6828 and from all ^H3605 the lands ^H776 where ^H834 H8033 He had banished ^H5080 them.’ For I will return ^H7725 them to their own land ^H127 which ^H834 I gave ^H5414 to their fathers ^H1.

16 “Behold ^H2009, I am going to send ^H7971 for many ^H7227 fishermen ^H1728,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068, “and they will fish ^H1770 for them; and afterwards ^H310 H3651 I will send ^H7971 for many ^H7227 hunters ^H6719, and they will hunt ^H6679 them from every ^H3605 mountain ^H2022 and every ^H3605 hill ^H1389 and from the crevices ^H5357 of the rocks ^H5553. 17 For My eyes ^H5869 are on all ^H3605 their ways ^H1870; they are not hidden ^H5641 from My face ^H6440, nor ^H3808 is their iniquity ^H5771 concealed ^H6845 from My eyes ^H5869. 18 I will first ^H7223 doubly ^H4932 repay ^H7999 their iniquity ^H5771 and their sin ^H2403 because ^H5921 they have profaned ^H2490 My land ^H776; they have filled ^H4390 My inheritance ^H5159 with the carcasses ^H5038 of their detestable ^H8251 idols ^H8251 and with their abominations ^H8441.”

19 O Yahweh ^H3068, my strength ^H5797 and my strong ^H4581 defense ^H4581,

And my refuge ^H4498 in the day ^H3117 of distress ^H6869,

To You the nations ^H1471 will come ^H935

From the ends ^H657 of the earth ^H776 and say ^H559,

“Our fathers ^H1 have inherited ^H5157 nothing ^H389 but lies ^H8267,

Futility ^H1892 and [fn]things of no ^H369 profit ^H3276.”

20 Can man ^H120 make ^H6213 gods ^H430 for himself?

Yet they are not gods ^H430!

21 “Therefore ^H3651 behold ^H2009, I am going to make them know ^H3045—

This ^H2088 time ^H6471 I will make them know ^H3045

My [fn]power ^H3027 and My might ^H1369;

And they shall know ^H3045 that My name ^H8034 is Yahweh ^H3068.”
