Yahweh Speaks Against Pashhur

1 Then Pashhur ^H6583 the priest ^H3548, the son ^H1121 of Immer ^H564, who ^H1931 was ruling ^H5057 overseer ^H6496 in the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, heard ^H8085 Jeremiah ^H3414 prophesying ^H5012 these ^H428 words ^H1697;

2 and Pashhur ^H6583 had Jeremiah ^H3414 the prophet ^H5030 struck ^H5221 and put ^H5414 him in the stocks ^H4115 that were at the upper ^H5945 Benjamin ^H1144 Gate ^H8179, which ^H834 was by the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068. 3 Now it happened that on the next ^H4283 day ^H4283, Pashhur ^H6583 released ^H3318 Jeremiah ^H3414 from the stocks ^H4115. And Jeremiah ^H3414 said ^H559 to him, “Pashhur ^H6583 is not the name ^H8034 Yahweh ^H3068 has called ^H7121 you, but rather ^H3588 H518 [fn]Magor-missabib ^H4036. 4 For thus ^H3541 says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, ‘Behold ^H2009, I am going to make ^H5414 you a terror ^H4032 to yourself and to all ^H3605 your friends ^H157; and while your eyes ^H5869 look ^H7200 on, they will fall ^H5307 by the sword ^H2719 of their enemies ^H340. Jeremiah Curses the Day He Was Born

7 O Yahweh ^H3068, You have enticed ^H6601 me, and I was enticed ^H6601;

You were stronger ^H2388 than I, and You prevailed ^H3201.

I have become ^H1961 a laughingstock ^H7814 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long;

Everyone ^H3605 mocks ^H3932 me.

8 For each ^H1767 time ^H1767 I speak ^H1696, I cry ^H2199 aloud ^H2199;

I call ^H7121 out ^H7121 violence ^H2555 and devastation ^H7701

Because ^H3588 for me the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 has [fn]resulted ^H1961

In reproach ^H2781 and derision ^H7047 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long.

9 But if I say ^H559, “I will not remember ^H2142 Him

Or speak ^H1696 anymore ^H5750 in His name ^H8034,”

Then in my heart ^H3820 it becomes ^H1961 like a burning ^H1197 fire ^H784

Shut ^H6113 up ^H6113 in my bones ^H6106;

And I am ^H3811 weary ^H3811 of holding ^H3557 it in,

And I cannot ^H3808 prevail ^H3201.

10 For I have heard ^H8085 the bad ^H1681 report ^H1681 of many ^H7227,

“Terror ^H4032 on every ^H5439 side ^H5439!

Denounce ^H5046 him; yes, let us denounce ^H5046 him!”

Keeping ^H8104 watch ^H8104 for my fall ^H6761, say:

“Perhaps ^H194 he will be [fn]deceived ^H6601, so that we may prevail ^H3201 against him

And take ^H3947 our revenge ^H5360 on him.”

11 But Yahweh ^H3068 is with me like a ruthless ^H6184 mighty ^H1368 one ^H1368;

Therefore ^H5921 H3651 my persecutors ^H7291 will stumble ^H3782 and not prevail ^H3201.

They will be ^H954 utterly ^H3966 ashamed ^H954, because ^H3588 they have not ^H3808 prospered ^H7919,

With an everlasting ^H5769 dishonor ^H3639 that will not be forgotten ^H7911.

12 Yet, O Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635, You who test ^H974 the righteous ^H6662,

Who see ^H7200 the [fn]mind ^H3629 and the heart ^H3820;

Let me see ^H7200 Your vengeance ^H5360 on them,

For to You I have revealed ^H1540 my cause ^H7379.

13 Sing ^H7891 to Yahweh ^H3068, praise ^H1984 Yahweh ^H3068!

For He has delivered ^H5337 the soul ^H5315 of the needy ^H34 one ^H34

From the hand ^H3027 of evildoers ^H7489.

14 Cursed ^H779 be the day ^H3117 when ^H834 I was born ^H3205;

Let the day ^H3117 not be blessed ^H1288 when ^H834 my mother ^H517 bore ^H3205 me!

15 Cursed ^H779 be the man ^H376 who ^H834 brought ^H1319 the good ^H1319 news ^H1319

To my father ^H1, saying ^H559,

“A [fn]baby ^H1121 boy ^H2145 has been born ^H3205 to you!”

And made ^H8055 him very ^H8055 glad ^H8055.

16 But let that man ^H376 be like the cities ^H5892

Which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 overthrew ^H2015 without ^H3808 [fn]relenting ^H5162,

And let him hear ^H8085 an outcry ^H2201 in the morning ^H1242

And a [fn]shout ^H8643 of war ^H8643 at noon ^H6672,

17 Because ^H834 he did not put ^H4191 me to ^H4191 death ^H4191 from ^H4480 the womb ^H7358,

So that my mother ^H517 would have been ^H1961 my grave ^H6913,

And her womb ^H7358 ever ^H5769 pregnant ^H2030.

18 Why ^H4100 did I ever ^H2088 come ^H3318 forth ^H3318 from the womb ^H7358

To look ^H7200 on trouble ^H5999 and sorrow ^H3015,

So that my days ^H3117 have been spent ^H3615 in shame ^H1322?
