Jesus Is Born in Bethlehem

Jesus Presented at the Temple

25 And behold ^G2400, there was a man ^G444 in Jerusalem ^G2419 whose ^G3739 name ^G3686 was Simeon ^G4826, and this ^G3778 man ^G444 was righteous ^G1342 and devout ^G2126, waiting ^G4327 for the [fn]comfort ^G3874 of Israel ^G2474, and the Holy ^G40 Spirit ^G4151 was upon him. 26 And it had been ^G1510 revealed ^G5537 to him by the Holy ^G40 Spirit ^G4151 that he would not see ^G3708 death ^G2288 before ^G4250 he had seen ^G3708 the [fn]Lord’s ^G2962 [fn]Christ ^G5547. 27 And he came ^G2064 in the Spirit ^G4151 into the temple ^G2413, and when ^G1722 the parents ^G1118 brought ^G1521 in ^G1521 the child ^G3813 Jesus ^G2424 [fn]to carry ^G4160 out ^G4160 for Him the custom ^G1480 of the Law ^G3551, 28 then ^G2532 he took ^G1209 Him into his arms ^G43 and blessed ^G2127 God ^G2316, and said ^G3004,

32 A LIGHT ^G5457 FOR REVELATION ^G602 TO THE GENTILES ^G1484,

And for the glory ^G1391 of Your people ^G2992 Israel ^G2474.”

33 And His father ^G3962 and mother ^G3384 were ^G2296 marveling ^G2296 at the things which were being said ^G2980 about ^G4012 Him. 34 And Simeon ^G4826 blessed ^G2127 them and said ^G3004 to Mary ^G3137 His mother ^G3384, “Behold ^G2400, this ^G3778 Child is appointed ^G2749 for the fall ^G4431 and [fn]rise ^G386 of many ^G4183 in Israel ^G2474, and for a sign ^G4592 to be opposed ^G483— 35 and a sword ^G4501 will pierce ^G1330 through ^G1330 your own ^G846 soul ^G5590 as well ^G2532—that ^G3704 the thoughts ^G1261 from many ^G4183 hearts ^G2588 may be revealed ^G601.”

36 And there was a prophetess ^G4398, [fn]Anna ^G451 the daughter ^G2364 of Phanuel ^G5323, of the tribe ^G5443 of Asher ^G768. She was advanced ^G4260 in [fn]years ^G2250 having lived ^G2198 with her husband ^G435 seven ^G2033 years ^G2250 from ^G575 when she was a virgin ^G3932, 37 and then as a widow ^G5503 to the age ^G2094 of eighty-four ^G3589 G5064. The Return to Nazareth

40 Now the Child ^G3813 continued to grow ^G837 and become ^G2901 strong ^G2901, being filled ^G4137 with wisdom ^G4678; and the grace ^G5485 of God ^G2316 was upon Him.

The Boy Jesus in the Temple

41 And His parents ^G1118 would go ^G4198 to Jerusalem ^G2419 every ^G2596 year ^G2094 at the Feast ^G1859 of the Passover ^G3957.

42 And when ^G3753 He became ^G1096 twelve ^G1427 years ^G2094 old, they went ^G305 up ^G305 there according ^G2596 to the custom ^G1485 of the Feast ^G1859; 43 and as they were returning ^G5290, after finishing ^G5048 the days ^G2250 of the Feast, the boy ^G3816 Jesus ^G2424 stayed ^G5278 behind ^G5278 in Jerusalem ^G2419. Did you not know ^G6063 that I had ^G1163 to be in My Father’s ^G3962 [fn]house?” 50 But they did not understand ^G4920 the statement ^G4487 which ^G3739 He had spoken ^G2980 to them. 51 And He went ^G2597 down ^G2597 with them and came ^G2064 to Nazareth ^G3478, and He continued in subjection ^G5293 to them, and His mother ^G3384 was treasuring ^G1301 all ^G3956 these [fn]things ^G4487 in her heart ^G2588.

52 And Jesus ^G2424 was advancing ^G4298 in wisdom ^G4678 and [fn]stature ^G2244, and in favor ^G5485 with God ^G2316 and men ^G444.
