Jesus Is Risen!

1 Now on the first ^G1520 day of the week ^G4521, at early ^G3722 dawn ^G3722, they came ^G2064 to the tomb ^G3418 bringing ^G5342 the spices ^G759 which ^G3739 they had prepared ^G2090.

2 And they found ^G2147 the stone ^G3037 rolled ^G617 away ^G617 from the tomb ^G3419, 3 but when they entered ^G1525, they did not find ^G2147 the body ^G4983 of the Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424. 4 And ^G2532 it happened ^G1096 that while ^G1722 they were perplexed ^G639 about ^G4012 this ^G3778, behold ^G2400, two ^G1417 men ^G435 suddenly stood ^G2186 near ^G2186 them in dazzling ^G797 clothing ^G2066, 5 and when the women were terrified ^G1719 and bowed ^G2827 their faces ^G4383 to the ground ^G1093, the men said ^G3004 to them, “Why ^G5101 do you seek ^G2212 the living ^G2198 One among ^G3326 the dead ^G3498? 6 He is not here ^G5602, but He has [fn]risen ^G1453. The Road to Emmaus

13 And behold ^G2400, two ^G1417 of them were going ^G4198 that same ^G846 day ^G2250 to a village ^G2968 named ^G3686 Emmaus ^G1695, which was [fn]sixty ^G1835 stadia ^G4712 from Jerusalem ^G2419.

28 And they approached ^G1448 the village ^G2968 where ^G3757 they were going ^G4198, and He acted ^G4364 as ^G4364 though ^G4364 He were going ^G4198 farther ^G4206. 29 But they urged ^G3849 Him strongly ^G3849, saying ^G3004, “Stay ^G3306 with us, for it is toward ^G4314 evening ^G2073, and the day ^G2250 [fn]is now ^G2235 nearly ^G2827 over ^G2827.” So ^G2532 He went ^G1525 in ^G1525 to stay ^G3306 with them. 30 And ^G2532 it happened ^G1096 that when ^G1722 He had reclined ^G2625 at the table with them, He took ^G2983 the bread ^G740 and blessed ^G2127 it, and after breaking ^G2806 it, He was giving ^G1929 it to them. 31 Then ^G2532 their eyes ^G3788 were opened ^G1272 and they recognized ^G1921 Him. And He vanished ^G855 from [fn]their sight ^G846. 32 And they said ^G3004 to one ^G240 another ^G240, “[fn]Were not our hearts ^G2588 burning ^G2545 within ^G1722 us while ^G5613 He was speaking ^G2980 to us on the road ^G3598, while ^G5613 He was opening ^G1272 the Scriptures ^G1124 to us?” 33 And they stood ^G450 up ^G450 that very ^G846 hour ^G5610 and returned ^G5290 to Jerusalem ^G2419, and found ^G2147 gathered ^G6003 together ^G6003 the eleven ^G1733 and those ^G3588 with them, 34 who were saying ^G3004, “The Lord ^G2962 has really ^G3689 risen ^G1453 and has appeared ^G3708 to Simon ^G4613.” 35 And they were relating ^G1834 [fn]their experiences ^G3588 on the road ^G3598 and how ^G5613 He was recognized ^G1097 by them in ^G5613 the breaking ^G2800 of the bread ^G740.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

36 Now while they were telling ^G2980 these ^G3778 things ^G3778, He Himself ^G846 stood ^G2476 in their midst ^G3319 and *said ^G3004 to them, “Peace ^G1515 to you.”

37 But being startled ^G4422 and frightened ^G1719, they were thinking ^G1380 that they were seeing ^G2334 a spirit ^G4151. 38 And He said ^G3004 to them, “Why ^G5101 are you troubled ^G5015, and why ^G1223 G5101 do doubts ^G1261 arise ^G305 in your [fn]hearts ^G2588? 39 See ^G3708 My hands ^G5495 and My feet ^G4228, that it is I Myself ^G846; touch ^G5584 Me and see ^G3708, for a spirit ^G4151 does not have ^G2192 flesh ^G4561 and bones ^G3747 as you see ^G2334 that I have ^G2192.” 40 And when He had said ^G3004 this ^G3778, He showed ^G1166 them His hands ^G5495 and His feet ^G4228. 41 And while they still ^G2089 were ^G569 not ^G569 believing ^G569 because ^G575 of their joy ^G5479 and were still marveling ^G2296, He said ^G3004 to them, “Have ^G2192 you anything ^G5100 here ^G1759 to ^G1034 eat ^G1034?” 42 They gave ^G1929 Him a piece ^G3313 of a broiled ^G3702 fish ^G2486, 43 and He took ^G2983 it and ate ^G2068 it before ^G1799 them.

44 Now ^G1161 He said ^G3004 to them, “These ^G3778 are My words ^G3056 which ^G3739 I spoke ^G2980 to you while I was still ^G2089 with you, that all ^G3956 things ^G3956 which are written ^G1125 about ^G4012 Me in the Law ^G3551 of Moses ^G3475 and the Prophets ^G4396 and the Psalms ^G5568 must ^G1163 be fulfilled ^G4137.” 45 Then ^G5119 He opened ^G1272 their [fn]minds ^G3563 to understand ^G4920 the Scriptures ^G1124, 46 and He said ^G3004 to them, “Thus ^G3779 it is written ^G1125, that the [fn]Christ ^G5547 would suffer ^G3958 and rise ^G450 again ^G450 from the dead ^G3498 the third ^G5154 day ^G2250, 47 and that repentance ^G3341 [fn]for forgiveness ^G859 of sins ^G266 would be proclaimed ^G2784 [fn]in His name ^G3686 to all ^G3956 the nations ^G1484, beginning ^G757 from Jerusalem ^G2419. 48 You are witnesses ^G3144 of these ^G3778 things ^G3778. 49 And behold ^G2400, I am sending ^G1821 the promise ^G1860 of My Father ^G3962 upon you, but you are to stay ^G2523 in the city ^G4172 until ^G2193 you are clothed ^G1746 with power ^G1411 from on high ^G5311.”

The Ascension

50 And He led ^G1806 them out ^G1806 as ^G2193 far ^G2193 as ^G2193 Bethany ^G963, and lifting ^G1869 up ^G1869 His hands ^G5495, He blessed ^G2127 them.

51 And ^G2532 it happened ^G1096 that while ^G1722 He was blessing ^G2127 them, He parted ^G1339 from them and was carried ^G339 up ^G339 into heaven ^G3772. 52 And they, after worshiping ^G4352 Him, returned ^G5290 to Jerusalem ^G2419 with great ^G3173 joy ^G5479, 53 and were continually ^G1223 G3956 in the temple ^G2413 blessing ^G2127 God ^G2316.
