Jesus Cleanses a Leper

1 Now when [fn]Jesus came ^G2597 down ^G2597 from the [fn]mountain ^G3735, [fn]large ^G4183 crowds ^G3793 followed ^G190 Him.

2 And ^G2532 behold ^G2400, a leper ^G3015 came ^G4334 to Him and [fn]was bowing ^G4352 down ^G4352 before Him, and said ^G3004, “Lord ^G2962, if ^G1437 You are willing ^G2309, You can ^G1410 make ^G2511 me clean ^G2511.” 3 And Jesus stretched ^G1614 out ^G1614 His hand ^G5495 and touched ^G681 him, saying ^G3004, “I am ^G2309 willing ^G2309; be cleansed ^G2511.” And immediately ^G2112 his leprosy ^G3014 was cleansed ^G2511. 4 And Jesus ^G2424 *said ^G3004 to him, “See ^G3708 that you tell ^G3004 no ^G3367 one ^G3367; but go ^G5217, show ^G1166 yourself ^G4572 to the priest ^G2409 and present ^G4374 the [fn]offering ^G1435 that Moses ^G3475 commanded ^G4367, as a testimony ^G3142 to them.”

The Centurion’s Faith

5 And when [fn]Jesus entered ^G1525 Capernaum ^G2584, a centurion ^G1543 came ^G4334 to Him, pleading ^G3870 with Him,

6 and saying ^G3004, “[fn]Lord ^G2962, my [fn]servant ^G3816 is [fn]lying ^G906 paralyzed ^G3885 at home ^G3614, fearfully ^G1171 tormented ^G928.” 7 And Jesus *said ^G3004 to him, “I will come ^G2064 and heal ^G2323 him.” 8 But the centurion ^G1543 said ^G5346, “[fn]Lord ^G2962, I am ^G1510 not good ^G2425 enough ^G2425 for You to come ^G1525 under ^G5259 my roof ^G4721, but just ^G3441 [fn]say ^G3004 the word ^G3056, and my [fn]servant ^G3816 will be healed ^G2390. 9 For I also ^G2532 am ^G1510 a man ^G444 under ^G5259 authority ^G1849, with soldiers ^G4757 under ^G5259 me; and I say ^G3004 to this ^G3778 man ^G3778, ‘Go ^G4198!’ and he goes ^G4198, and to another ^G243, ‘Come ^G2064!’ and he comes ^G2064, and to my slave ^G1401, ‘Do ^G4160 this ^G3778!’ and he does ^G4160 it.” 10 Now ^G1161 when Jesus ^G2424 heard ^G191 this, He marveled ^G2296 and said ^G3004 to those ^G3588 who were following ^G190, “Truly ^G281 I say ^G3004 to you, I have not found ^G2147 such ^G5118 great ^G5118 faith ^G4102 [fn]with anyone ^G3762 in Israel ^G2474. 11 And I say ^G3004 to you that many ^G4183 will come ^G2240 from east ^G395 and west ^G1424, and [fn]recline ^G347 at the table with Abraham ^G11, Isaac ^G2464, and Jacob ^G2384 in the kingdom ^G932 of heaven ^G3772; 12 but the sons ^G5207 of the kingdom ^G932 will be cast ^G1544 out ^G1544 into the outer ^G1857 darkness ^G4655; in that place ^G1563 there ^G1563 will be weeping ^G2805 and gnashing ^G1030 of teeth ^G3599.” 13 And Jesus ^G2424 said ^G3004 to the centurion ^G1543, “Go ^G5217; [fn]it shall be done ^G1096 for you as you have believed ^G4100.” And the [fn]servant ^G3816 was healed ^G2390 that very [fn]moment ^G5610.

Peter’s Mother-in-Law and Many Others Healed

14 When Jesus ^G2424 came ^G2064 into Peter’s ^G4074 [fn]home ^G3614, He saw ^G3708 his mother-in-law ^G3994 lying ^G906 sick ^G906 in bed with a fever ^G4445.

15 And He touched ^G681 her hand ^G5495, and the fever ^G4446 left ^G863 her; and she got ^G1453 up ^G1453 and began [fn]waiting ^G1247 on ^G1247 Him. 16 Now when evening ^G3798 came ^G1096, they brought ^G4374 to Him many ^G4183 who were demon-possessed ^G1139; and He cast ^G1544 out ^G1544 the spirits ^G4151 with a word ^G3056, and healed ^G2323 all ^G3956 who were ill ^G2192 G2560 17 in order to ^G3704 fulfill ^G4137 what ^G3588 was spoken ^G3004 through ^G1223 Isaiah ^G2268 the prophet ^G4396, saying ^G3004, “HE HIMSELF ^G846 TOOK ^G2983 OUR INFIRMITIES ^G769 AND [fn]CARRIED ^G941 AWAY ^G941 OUR DISEASES ^G3554.”

The Cost of Following Jesus

18 Now ^G1161 when Jesus ^G2424 saw ^G3708 a crowd ^G3793 around ^G4012 Him, He gave ^G2753 orders ^G2753 to depart ^G565 to the other ^G4008 side ^G4008 of the sea.

19 Then ^G2532 a scribe ^G1122 came ^G4334 and said ^G3004 to Him, “Teacher ^G1320, I will follow ^G190 You wherever ^G3699 G1437 You go ^G565.” 20 And Jesus ^G2424 *said ^G3004 to him, “The foxes ^G258 have ^G2192 holes ^G5454 and the birds ^G4071 of the [fn]air ^G3772 have [fn]nests ^G2682, but the Son ^G5207 of Man ^G444 has ^G2192 nowhere ^G3756 G4226 to lay ^G2827 His head ^G2776.” 21 And another ^G2087 of the disciples ^G3101 said ^G3004 to Him, “Lord ^G2962, permit ^G2010 me first ^G4413 to go ^G565 and bury ^G2290 my father ^G3962.” 22 But Jesus ^G2424 *said ^G3004 to him, “Follow ^G190 Me, and allow ^G863 the dead ^G3498 to bury ^G2290 their own ^G1438 dead ^G3498.”

Jesus Calms a Storm

23 And when He got ^G1684 into the boat ^G4143, His disciples ^G3101 followed ^G190 Him.

24 And behold ^G2400, there arose ^G1096 [fn]a great ^G3173 storm ^G4578 on the sea ^G2281, so ^G5620 that the boat ^G4143 was being ^G2572 covered ^G2572 with the waves ^G2949; but Jesus Himself ^G846 was ^G2518 sleeping ^G2518. 25 And they came ^G4334 to Him and got ^G1453 Him up ^G1453, saying ^G3004, “Save ^G4982 us, Lord ^G2962; we are perishing ^G622!” 26 And He *said ^G3004 to them, “Why ^G5101 are you so cowardly ^G1169, you men ^G3640 of ^G3640 little ^G3640 faith ^G3640?” Then ^G5119 He got ^G1453 up ^G1453 and rebuked ^G2008 the winds ^G417 and the sea ^G2281, and [fn]it became ^G1096 perfectly ^G3173 calm ^G1055. 27 And the men ^G444 marveled ^G2296, and said ^G3004, “What ^G4217 kind ^G4217 of ^G4217 a ^G4217 man ^G444 is this ^G3778, that even ^G2532 the winds ^G417 and the sea ^G2281 obey ^G5219 Him?”

Jesus Saves Men from Demons

28 And when He came ^G2064 to the other ^G4008 side ^G4008, into the region ^G5561 of the Gadarenes ^G1046, two ^G1417 men who were demon-possessed ^G1139 met ^G5221 Him as they were coming ^G1831 out ^G1831 of the tombs ^G3419. They were so extremely ^G3029 violent ^G5467 that no ^G3361 one ^G5100 could ^G2480 pass ^G3928 by that way ^G3598.

29 And ^G2532 behold ^G2400, they cried ^G2896 out ^G2896, saying ^G3004, “[fn]What ^G5101 do we ^G2254 have to do with You ^G4671, Son ^G5207 of God ^G2316? Have You come ^G2064 here ^G5602 to torment ^G928 us before ^G4253 the [fn]time ^G2540?” 30 Now ^G1161 there was a herd ^G34 of many ^G4183 swine ^G5519 feeding ^G1006 at ^G3112 a ^G3112 distance ^G3112 from them. 31 And the demons ^G1142 began to plead ^G3870 with Him, saying ^G3004, “If ^G1487 You are going to cast ^G1544 us out ^G1544, send ^G649 us into the herd ^G34 of swine ^G5519.” 32 And He said ^G3004 to them, “Go ^G5217!” And coming ^G1831 out ^G1831, they went ^G565 into the swine ^G5519; and ^G2532 behold ^G2400, the whole ^G3956 herd ^G34 rushed ^G3729 down ^G2596 the steep ^G2911 bank ^G2911 into the sea ^G2281 and perished ^G599 in the waters ^G5204. 33 Now the herdsmen ^G1006 ran ^G5343 away ^G5343, and went ^G565 to the city ^G4172 and reported ^G518 everything ^G3956, [fn]including ^G2532 what ^G3588 had ^G3588 happened ^G3588 to the demoniacs ^G1139. 34 And behold ^G2400, the whole ^G3956 city ^G4172 came ^G1831 out ^G1831 to meet ^G5222 Jesus ^G2424; and when they saw ^G3708 Him, they pleaded ^G3870 with Him to leave ^G3327 their region ^G3725.
