2 “This H2088 is the statute H2708 of the law H8451 which H834 Yahweh H3068 has commanded H6680, saying H559, ‘Speak H1696 to the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 that they take H3947 to you a red H122 heifer H6510 without H8549 blemish H8549, in which H834 is no H369 defect H3971 and on which H834 a yoke H5923 has never H3808 [fn]been placed H5927. 3 And you shall give H5414 it to Eleazar H499 the priest H3548, and it shall be brought H3318 outside H413 H4480 H2351 the camp H4264 and be slaughtered H7819 in his presence H6440. 4 Next Eleazar H499 the priest H3548 shall take H3947 some H4480 of its blood H1818 with his finger H676 and sprinkle H5137 some H4480 of its blood H1818 toward H413 the front H6440 of the tent H168 of meeting H4150 seven H7651 times H6471. 5 Then the heifer H6510 shall be burned H8313 in his sight H5869; its hide H5785 and its flesh H1320 and its blood H1818, with its refuse H6569, shall be burned H8313. 6 And the priest H3548 shall take H3947 cedar H730 wood H6086 and hyssop H231 and scarlet H8144 material and cast H7993 it into the midst H8432 of the [fn]burning H8316 heifer H6510. 7 The priest H3548 shall then wash H3526 his clothes H899 and bathe H7364 his [fn]body H1320 in water H4325 and afterward H310 come H935 into the camp H4264, but the priest H3548 shall be H2930 unclean H2930 until H5704 evening H6153. 8 The one who burns H8313 it shall also wash H3526 his clothes H899 in water H4325 and bathe H7364 his [fn]body H1320 in water H4325 and shall be H2930 unclean H2930 until H5704 evening H6153. 9 Now a man H376 who is clean H2889 shall gather H622 up H622 the ashes H665 of the heifer H6510 and deposit H5117 them outside H4480 H2351 the camp H4264 in a clean H2889 place H4725, and [fn]the congregation H5712 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 shall keep H4931 it as water H4325 to remove impurity H5079; it is [fn]purification H2403 from H2403 sin H2403. 10 And the one who gathers H622 the ashes H665 of the heifer H6510 shall wash H3526 his clothes H899 and be H2930 unclean H2930 until H5704 evening H6153; and it shall be a perpetual H5769 statute H2708 to the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 and to the sojourner H1616 who sojourns H1481 among H8432 them.
11 ‘The one who touches H5060 the corpse H4191 of any H3605 [fn]person H5315 H120 shall be H2930 unclean H2930 for seven H7651 days H3117. 12 That one H1931 shall purify H2398 himself from uncleanness H2398 with [fn]the water on the third H7992 day H3117 and on the seventh H7637 day H3117, and then he will be H2891 clean H2891; but if H518 he does not purify H2398 himself on the third H7992 day H3117 and on the seventh H7637 day H3117, he will not be H2891 clean H2891. 13 Anyone H3605 who touches H5060 a corpse H4191, the [fn]body H5315 of a man H120 who H834 has died H4191, and does not purify H2398 himself, [fn]makes H2930 the [fn]tabernacle H4908 of Yahweh H3068 unclean H2930; and that person H5315 shall be cut H3772 off H3772 from Israel H3478. Because H3588 the water H4325 for impurity H5079 was not [fn]splashed H2236 on him, he shall be unclean H2931; his uncleanness H2932 is still H5750 on him.
14 ‘This H2088 is the law H8451 when H3588 a man H120 dies H4191 in a tent H168: everyone H3605 who comes H935 into the tent H168 and everyone H3605 who H834 is in the tent H168 shall be H2930 unclean H2930 for seven H7651 days H3117. 15 And every H3605 open H6605 vessel H3627, which H834 has H369 no H369 covering H6781 [fn]tied H6616 down H6616 on it, shall be unclean H2931. 16 Also, anyone H3605 who H834 in the open H6440 field H7704 touches H5060 one H2491 who has been slain H2491 with a sword H2719 or H176 who has died H4191 naturally, or H176 a human H120 bone H6106 or H176 a grave H6913, shall be H2930 unclean H2930 for seven H7651 days H3117. 17 Then for the unclean H2931 person they shall take H3947 some H4480 of the [fn]ashes H6083 of the [fn]burnt H8316 [fn]purification H2403 from H2403 sin H2403 and [fn]flowing H2416 water H4325 shall be [fn]added H5414 to them in a vessel H3627. 18 And a clean H2889 person H376 shall take H3947 hyssop H231 and dip H2881 it in the water H4325 and sprinkle H5137 it on the tent H168 and on all H3605 the furnishings H3627 and on the persons H5315 who H834 were there H8033 and on the one who touched H5060 the bone H6106 or H176 the one H2491 slain H2491 or H176 the one dying H4191 naturally or H176 the grave H6913. 19 Then the clean H2889 person shall sprinkle H5137 on the unclean H2931 on the third H7992 day H3117 and on the seventh H7637 day H3117; and on the seventh H7637 day H3117 he shall purify H2398 him from uncleanness H2398, and he shall wash H3526 his clothes H899 and bathe H7364 himself in water H4325 and shall be H2891 clean H2891 by evening H6153.
20 ‘But the man H376 who H834 is H2930 unclean H2930 and does not purify H2398 himself from uncleanness H2398, that person H5315 shall be cut H3772 off H3772 from the midst H8432 of the assembly H6951 because H3588 he has [fn]made H2930 the sanctuary H4720 of Yahweh H3068 unclean H2930; the water H4325 for impurity H5079 has not been [fn]splashed H2236 on him; he is unclean H2931. 21 So it shall be a perpetual H5769 statute H2708 for them. And he who sprinkles H5137 the water H4325 for impurity H5079 shall wash H3526 his clothes H899, and he who touches H5060 the water H4325 for impurity H5079 shall be H2930 unclean H2930 until H5704 evening H6153. 22 Furthermore, anything H3605 that the unclean H2931 person touches H5060 shall be H2930 unclean H2930; and the person H5315 who touches H5060 it shall be H2930 unclean H2930 until H5704 evening H6153.’”
