PSALM 50

God Himself Is Judge

A Psalm of [fn]Asaph.

1 The Mighty ^H410 One ^H410, God ^H430, Yahweh ^H3068, has spoken ^H1696,

And called ^H7121 the earth ^H776 from the rising ^H4217 of the sun ^H8121 to its setting ^H3996.

2 Out of Zion ^H6726, the perfection ^H4359 of beauty ^H3308,

God ^H430 has shone ^H3313 forth ^H3313.

3 May our God ^H430 come ^H935 and not be silent ^H2790;

Fire ^H784 devours ^H398 before ^H6440 Him,

And a storm whirls ^H8175 H3699 around ^H5439 Him.

4 He calls ^H7121 the heavens ^H8064 above ^H4480 H5921,

And the earth ^H776, to render ^H1777 justice ^H1777 to His people ^H5971:

5 “Gather ^H622 My holy ^H2623 ones ^H2623 to Me,

Those who have cut ^H3772 a covenant ^H1285 with Me by sacrifice ^H2077.”

6 And the heavens ^H8064 declare ^H5046 His righteousness ^H6664,

For God ^H430 Himself ^H1931 is judge ^H8199. [fn]Selah ^H5542.

7 “Hear ^H8085, O My people ^H5971, and I will speak ^H1696;

O Israel ^H3478, I will testify ^H5749 [fn]against you;

I am God ^H430, your God ^H430.

8 “I do not reprove ^H3198 you for your sacrifices ^H2077,

And your burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 are continually ^H8548 before ^H5048 Me.

9 “I shall take ^H3947 no ^H3808 young ^H6499 bull ^H6499 out of your house ^H1004

Nor male ^H6260 goats ^H6260 out of your folds ^H4356.

10 “For every ^H3605 beast ^H2416 of the forest ^H3293 is Mine,

The cattle ^H929 on a thousand ^H505 hills ^H2022.

11 “I know ^H3045 every ^H3605 bird ^H5775 of the mountains ^H2022,

And everything ^H2123 that ^H2123 moves ^H2123 in the field ^H7704 is [fn]Mine ^H5973.

12 “If ^H518 I were hungry ^H7456 I would not tell ^H559 you,

For the world ^H8398 is Mine, as well as its fullness ^H4393.

13 “Shall I eat ^H398 the flesh ^H1320 of [fn]bulls ^H47

Or drink ^H8354 the blood ^H1818 of male ^H6260 goats ^H6260?

14 “Offer ^H2076 to God ^H430 a ^H2076 sacrifice ^H2076 of thanksgiving ^H8426

And pay ^H7999 your vows ^H5088 to the Most ^H5945 High ^H5945;

15 Call ^H7121 upon Me in ^H7121 the day ^H3117 of distress ^H6869;

I shall rescue ^H2502 you, and you will glorify ^H3513 Me.”

16 But to the wicked ^H7563 God ^H430 says ^H559,

“What ^H4100 right have you to recount ^H5608 My statutes ^H2706

And to take ^H5375 My covenant ^H1285 in your mouth ^H6310?

17 “For you hate ^H8130 discipline ^H4148,

And you cast ^H7993 My words ^H1697 behind ^H310 you.

18 “When ^H518 you see ^H7200 a thief ^H1590, you [fn]are pleased ^H7521 with him,

And [fn]you associate ^H2506 with adulterers ^H5003.

19 “You [fn]let ^H7971 your mouth ^H6310 loose ^H7971 in evil ^H7451

And you harness ^H6775 your tongue ^H3956 for deceit ^H4820.

20 “You sit ^H3427 and speak ^H1696 against your brother ^H251;

You slander ^H5414 H1848 your own mother’s ^H517 son ^H1121.

21 “These ^H428 things ^H428 you have done ^H6213 and I kept ^H2790 silent ^H2790;

You thought ^H1819 that I was just like ^H3644 you;

I will reprove ^H3198 you and state ^H6186 the case in ^H6186 order ^H6186 before your eyes ^H5869.

22 “Now ^H4994 consider ^H995 this ^H2088, you who forget ^H7911 God ^H433,

Lest ^H6435 I tear ^H2963 you in pieces, and there ^H369 will ^H369 be ^H369 none ^H369 to deliver ^H5337.

23 “He who offers ^H2076 a ^H2076 sacrifice ^H2076 of thanksgiving ^H8426 glorifies ^H3513 Me;

And he who [fn]orders ^H7760 his way ^H1870,

I shall show ^H7200 the salvation ^H3468 of God ^H430.”
