PSALM 55

He Will Never Allow the Righteous to Be Shaken

1 Give ^H238 ear ^H238 to my prayer ^H8605, O God ^H430;

And do not hide ^H5956 Yourself from my supplication ^H8467.

2 Give ^H7181 heed ^H7181 to me and answer ^H6030 me;

I am restless ^H7300 in my complaint ^H7879 and [fn]am surely ^H1949 distracted ^H1949,

3 Because ^H4480 of the voice ^H6963 of the enemy ^H340,

Because ^H4480 H6440 of the pressure ^H6125 of the wicked ^H7563;

For they shake ^H4131 wickedness ^H205 down upon me

And in anger ^H639 they bear ^H7852 a ^H7852 grudge ^H7852 against ^H7852 me.

For evil ^H7451 is in their dwelling ^H4033, in their midst ^H7130.

16 As for me, I shall call ^H7121 upon God ^H430,

And Yahweh ^H3068 will save ^H3467 me.

17 Evening ^H6153 and morning ^H1242 and at noon ^H6672, I will bring ^H7878 my complaint ^H7878 and moan ^H1993,

And He will hear ^H8085 my voice ^H6963.

18 He will redeem ^H6299 my soul ^H5315 in peace ^H7965 [fn]from the battle ^H7128 which is against me,

For they are many ^H7227 who strive with me.

20 [fn]My companion has put ^H7971 forth ^H7971 his hands ^H3027 against those who were at peace ^H7965 with him;

He has [fn]violated ^H2490 his covenant ^H1285.

21 His [fn]speech ^H6310 was smoother ^H2505 than ^H4480 butter ^H4260,

But his heart ^H3820 was war ^H7128;

His words ^H1697 were softer ^H7401 than ^H4480 oil ^H8081,

Yet they were drawn ^H6609 swords ^H6609.

22 Cast ^H7993 [fn]your burden ^H3053 upon Yahweh ^H3068 and He will sustain ^H3557 you;

He will never ^H3808 H5769 allow ^H5414 the righteous ^H6662 to [fn]be shaken ^H4131.

23 But You, O God ^H430, will bring ^H3381 them down ^H3381 to the [fn]pit ^H875 of corruption ^H7845;

Men ^H376 of bloodshed ^H1818 and deceit ^H4820 will not live ^H2673 out ^H2673 half ^H2673 their days ^H3117.

But I will trust ^H982 in You.
