PSALM 71

O God, Do Not Forsake Me

1 In You, O Yahweh ^H3068, I have taken ^H2620 refuge ^H2620;

Let me never ^H408 H5769 be ^H954 ashamed ^H954.

2 In Your righteousness ^H6666 deliver ^H5337 me and protect ^H6403 me;

Incline ^H5186 Your ear ^H241 to me and save ^H3467 me.

3 Be to me a rock ^H6697 of habitation ^H4583 to which I may continually ^H8548 come ^H935;

You have ^H6680 given ^H6680 the command ^H6680 to save ^H3467 me,

For You are my [fn]rock ^H5553 and my fortress ^H4686.

4 Protect ^H6403 me, O my God ^H430, out of the hand ^H3027 of the wicked ^H7563,

Out of the [fn]grasp ^H3709 of the unrighteous ^H5765 and ruthless ^H2556 man ^H2556,

5 For You are my hope ^H8615;

O Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068, You are my trust ^H4009 from my youth ^H5271.

6 [fn]By You I have been sustained ^H5564 from my birth ^H990;

You are He who took ^H1491 me from my mother’s ^H517 womb ^H990;

My praise ^H8416 is continually ^H8548 [fn]of You.

7 I have become ^H1961 a marvel ^H4159 to many ^H7227,

For You are my strong ^H5797 refuge ^H4268.

8 My mouth ^H6310 is filled ^H4390 with Your praise ^H8416

And with Your beauty ^H8597 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long.

9 Do not cast ^H7993 me off ^H7993 in the time ^H6256 of old ^H2209 age ^H2209;

Do not forsake ^H5800 me when my strength ^H3581 fails ^H3615.

10 For my enemies ^H340 have spoken ^H559 [fn]against me;

And those who watch ^H8104 my [fn]life ^H5315 have counseled ^H3289 together ^H3162,

11 Saying ^H559, “God ^H430 has forsaken ^H5800 him;

Pursue ^H7291 and seize ^H8610 him, for there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 to deliver ^H5337.”

12 O God ^H430, do not be ^H7368 far ^H7368 from me;

O my God ^H430, hasten ^H2363 to my help ^H5833!

13 Let those who accuse ^H7853 my soul ^H5315 be ^H954 ashamed ^H954 and consumed ^H3615;

Let them be wrapped ^H5844 up ^H5844 with reproach ^H2781 and dishonor ^H3639, who seek ^H1245 [fn]to do me evil ^H7451.

14 But as for me, I will wait ^H3176 continually ^H8548,

And will [fn]praise ^H8416 You yet ^H3254 more ^H3254 and more ^H3605.

15 My mouth ^H6310 shall recount ^H5608 Your righteousness ^H6666

And Your salvation ^H8668 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long;

For I do not know ^H3045 the [fn]sum ^H5615 of them.

16 I will come ^H935 with the mighty ^H1369 deeds ^H1369 of Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068;

I will bring ^H2142 to remembrance ^H2142 Your righteousness ^H6666, Yours alone ^H905.

17 O God ^H430, You have taught ^H3925 me from my youth ^H5271,

And I still ^H5704 H2008 declare ^H5046 Your wondrous ^H6381 deeds ^H6381.

18 And even ^H1571 when ^H5704 I am old ^H2209 and gray ^H7872, O God ^H430, do not forsake ^H5800 me,

Until ^H5704 I declare ^H5046 Your [fn]strength ^H2220 to this generation ^H1755,

Your might ^H1369 to all ^H3605 who are to come ^H935.

19 [fn]For Your righteousness ^H6666, O God ^H430, reaches to the [fn]heavens ^H4791,

You who ^H834 have done ^H6213 great ^H1419 things ^H1419;

O God ^H430, who ^H4310 is like ^H3644 You?

20 You, who ^H834 have shown ^H7200 [fn]me many ^H7227 troubles ^H6869 and [fn]evils ^H7451,

Will revive ^H2421 [fn]me again ^H7725,

And will bring ^H5927 [fn]me up ^H5927 again ^H7725 from the depths ^H8415 of the earth ^H776.

21 May You increase ^H7235 my greatness ^H1420

And turn ^H5437 to comfort ^H5162 me.

22 I will also ^H1571 praise ^H3034 You with [fn]a harp ^H5035,

Even Your [fn]truth ^H571, O my God ^H430;

To You I will sing ^H2167 praises ^H2167 with the lyre ^H3658,

O Holy ^H6918 One ^H6918 of Israel ^H3478.

23 My lips ^H8193 will sing ^H7442 for ^H7442 joy ^H7442 when ^H3588 I sing ^H2167 praises ^H2167 to You;

And my soul ^H5315, which ^H834 You have redeemed ^H6299.

24 My tongue ^H3956 also ^H1571 will utter ^H1897 Your righteousness ^H6666 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long;

For they are ^H954 ashamed ^H954, for they are humiliated ^H2659 who seek ^H1245 [fn]to do me evil ^H7451.
