1 Every G3956 [fn]person G5590 is to be in subjection G5293 to the governing G5242 authorities G1849. For there is no G3756 authority G1849 except G1508 [fn]from God G2316, and those G3588 which exist G1510 have been appointed G5021 by God G2316.
2 Therefore G5620 [fn]whoever G3588 resists G436 that authority G1849 has opposed G436 the ordinance G1296 of God G2316; and they who have opposed G436 will receive G2983 condemnation G2917 upon themselves G1438. 3 For rulers G758 are not a cause of fear G5401 for [fn]good G18 behavior G2041, but for evil G2556. Do you want G2309 to have G5399 no G3361 fear G5399 of that authority G1849? Do G4160 what G18 is G18 good G18, and you will have G2192 praise G1868 from the same G846; 4 for it is a minister G1249 of God G2316 to you for good G18.
