God’s Righteous Judgment

1 Therefore ^G1352 you are ^G1488 without ^G379 excuse ^G379, O ^G5599 man ^G444, everyone ^G3956 who ^G3588 passes ^G2919 judgment ^G2919, for in that which ^G3739 you judge ^G2919 another ^G2087, you condemn ^G2632 yourself ^G4572; for you who judge ^G2919 practice ^G4238 the same ^G846 things ^G846.

2 And we know ^G6063 that the judgment ^G2917 of God ^G2316 [fn]rightly ^G2596 G225 falls ^G1510 upon those ^G3588 who practice ^G4238 such ^G5108 things ^G5108. 3 But do you presume ^G3049 this ^G3778, O ^G5599 man ^G444—who passes ^G2919 judgment ^G2919 on ^G2919 those ^G3588 who practice ^G4238 such ^G5108 things ^G5108 and does ^G4160 the same ^G846—that you will escape ^G1628 the judgment ^G2917 of God ^G2316? 4 Or ^G2228 do you think ^G2706 lightly ^G2706 of the riches ^G4149 of His kindness ^G5544 and forbearance ^G463 and patience ^G3115, not knowing ^G50 that the kindness ^G5543 of God ^G2316 leads ^G71 you to repentance ^G3341? 5 But [fn]because ^G2596 of your stubbornness ^G4643 and unrepentant ^G279 heart ^G2588 you are storing ^G2343 up ^G2343 wrath ^G3709 for yourself ^G4572 in the day ^G2250 of wrath ^G3709 and revelation ^G602 of the righteous ^G1341 judgment ^G1341 of God ^G2316, 6 who ^G3739 WILL REPAY ^G591 TO EACH ^G1538 ACCORDING ^G2596 TO HIS WORKS ^G2041: 7 to those ^G3588 who by perseverance ^G5281 in doing ^G2041 good ^G18 seek ^G2212 for glory ^G1391 and honor ^G5092 and immortality ^G861, eternal ^G166 life ^G2222; 8 but to those ^G3588 who are selfishly ^G2052 ambitious ^G2052 and do ^G544 not ^G544 obey ^G544 the truth ^G225, but obey ^G3982 unrighteousness ^G93, wrath ^G3709 and anger ^G2372. 9 There will be affliction ^G2347 and turmoil ^G4730 [fn]for every ^G3956 soul ^G5590 of man ^G444 who works ^G2716 out ^G2716 evil ^G2556, of the Jew ^G2453 first ^G4413 and also ^G5037 of the Greek ^G1672, 10 but glory ^G1391 and honor ^G5092 and peace ^G1515 to everyone ^G3956 who works ^G2038 good ^G18, to the Jew ^G2453 first ^G4413 and also ^G5037 to the Greek ^G1672. 11 For there is no ^G3756 partiality ^G4382 with God ^G2316.

12 For all ^G3745 who ^G3745 have sinned ^G264 [fn]without ^G460 the ^G460 Law ^G460 will also ^G2532 perish ^G622 [fn]without ^G460 the Law ^G460, and all ^G3745 who ^G3745 have sinned ^G264 [fn]under ^G1722 the Law ^G3551 will be judged ^G2919 [fn]by the Law ^G3551. 13 For it is not the hearers ^G202 [fn]of the Law ^G3551 who are [fn]just ^G1342 before ^G3844 God ^G2316, but the doers ^G4163 [fn]of the Law ^G3551 will be justified ^G1344. 14 For when ^G3752 Gentiles ^G1484 who do not have ^G2192 [fn]the Law ^G3551 naturally ^G5449 do ^G4160 the things of the Law ^G3551, these ^G3778, not having ^G2192 [fn]the Law ^G3551, are a law ^G3551 to themselves ^G1438, 15 in that they demonstrate ^G1731 the work ^G2041 of the Law ^G3551 written ^G1123 in their hearts ^G2588, their conscience ^G4893 bearing ^G4828 witness ^G4828 and their thoughts ^G3053 alternately ^G3342 accusing ^G2723 or ^G2228 else ^G2532 defending ^G626 them, 16 on the day ^G2250 when ^G3739, according ^G2596 to my gospel ^G2098, God ^G2316 will judge ^G2919 the secrets ^G2927 of men ^G444 through ^G1223 Christ ^G5547 Jesus ^G2424.

The Jew Is Judged by the Law

17 But if ^G1487 you bear ^G2028 the name ^G2028 “Jew ^G2453” and rely ^G1879 [fn]upon ^G1879 the Law ^G3551 and boast ^G2744 in God ^G2316,

18 and know ^G1097 His will ^G2307 and [fn]approve ^G1381 the things that are essential ^G1308, being instructed ^G2727 out of the Law ^G3551, 19 and are confident ^G3982 that you yourself ^G4572 are a guide ^G3595 to the blind ^G5185, a light ^G5457 to those ^G3588 who are in darkness ^G4655, 20 a [fn]corrector ^G3810 of the foolish ^G878, a teacher ^G1320 of [fn]the immature ^G3516, having ^G2192 in the Law ^G3551 the embodiment ^G3446 of knowledge ^G1108 and of the truth ^G225, 21 you, therefore ^G3767, who teach ^G1321 another ^G2087, do you not teach ^G1321 yourself ^G4572? You who [fn]preach ^G2784 that one shall not steal ^G2813, do you steal ^G2813? 22 You who say ^G3004 that one should not commit ^G3431 adultery ^G3431, do you commit ^G3431 adultery ^G3431? You who abhor ^G948 idols ^G1497, do you rob ^G2416 temples ^G2416? 23 You who ^G3739 boast ^G2744 [fn]in the Law ^G3551, through ^G1223 your transgression ^G3847 of the Law ^G3551, do you dishonor ^G818 God ^G2316? 24 For “THE NAME ^G3686 OF GOD ^G2316 IS BLASPHEMED ^G987 AMONG ^G1722 THE GENTILES ^G1484 BECAUSE ^G1223 OF YOU,” just ^G2531 as it is written ^G1125.

25 For indeed ^G3303 circumcision ^G4061 is ^G5623 of ^G5623 value ^G5623 if ^G1437 you practice ^G4238 [fn]the Law ^G3551, but if ^G1437 you are a transgressor ^G3848 [fn]of the Law ^G3551, your circumcision ^G4061 has become ^G1096 uncircumcision ^G203. 26 So ^G3767 if ^G1437 the [fn]uncircumcised ^G203 man ^G203 observes ^G5442 the righteous ^G1345 requirements ^G1345 of the Law ^G3551, will not his uncircumcision ^G203 be counted ^G3049 as circumcision ^G4061? 27 And he who is physically ^G5449 uncircumcised ^G203, if he [fn]fulfills ^G5055 the Law ^G3551, will he not judge ^G2919 you who ^G3588, through ^G1223 the letter ^G1121 of the Law and circumcision ^G4061, are a transgressor ^G3848 [fn]of the Law ^G3551? 28 For he is not a Jew ^G2453 who ^G3588 is one outwardly ^G1722 G5318, nor ^G3761 is circumcision ^G4061 that which is outward ^G5318 in the flesh ^G4561. 29 But he is a Jew ^G2453 who ^G3588 is one inwardly ^G2927; and circumcision ^G4061 is that which is of the heart ^G2588, by the Spirit ^G4151, not by the letter ^G1121; and his praise ^G1868 is not from men ^G444, but from God ^G2316.
