A Man with a Measuring Cord
1 [fn]Then I lifted H5375 up H5375 my eyes H5869 and saw H7200, and behold H2009, there was a man H376 with a measuring H4060 cord H2256 in his hand H3027.
2 So I said H559, “Where H575 are you going H1980?” And he said H559 to me, “To measure H4058 Jerusalem H3389, to see H7200 how H4100 wide H7341 it is and how H4100 long H753 it is.” 3 And behold H2009, the angel H4397 who was speaking H1696 with me was going H3318 out H3318, and another H312 angel H4397 was coming H3318 out H3318 to meet H7122 him 4 and said H559 to him, “Run H7323, speak H1696 to that H1975 young H5288 man H5288, saying H559, ‘Jerusalem H3389 will be inhabited H3427 [fn]without H6519 walls H6519 because H4480 of the multitude H7230 of men H120 and cattle H929 within H8432 it. 5 Indeed I,’ declares H5002 Yahweh H3068, ‘will be a wall H2346 of fire H784 [fn]around H5439 her, and I will be the glory H3519 in her midst H8432.’”
6 “[fn]Ho H1945 there H1945! Flee H5127 from the land H776 of the north H6828,” declares H5002 Yahweh H3068, “for I have dispersed H6566 you as the four H702 winds H7307 of the heavens H8064,” declares H5002 Yahweh H3068. 7 “Woe H1945, Zion H6726! Escape H4422, you who are living H3427 with the daughter H1323 of Babylon H894.” 8 For thus H3541 says H559 Yahweh H3068 of hosts H6635, “After H310 [fn]glory H3519 He has sent H7971 Me against H413 the nations H1471 which have taken H7997 you as spoil H7997, for he who touches H5060 you, touches H5060 the [fn]apple H892 of His eye H5869. 9 For behold H2009, I will wave H5130 My hand H3027 over H5921 them so that they will be spoil H7998 for their slaves H5650. Then you will know H3045 that Yahweh H3068 of hosts H6635 has sent H7971 Me. 10 Sing H7442 for H7442 joy H7442 and be glad H8055, O daughter H1323 of Zion H6726; for behold H2009, I am coming H935 and I will dwell H7931 in your midst H8432,” declares H5002 Yahweh H3068. 11 “And many H7227 nations H1471 will join H3867 themselves to Yahweh H3068 in that day H3117 and will become H1961 My people H5971. Then I will dwell H7931 in your midst H8432, and you will know H3045 that Yahweh H3068 of hosts H6635 has sent H7971 Me to you. 12 Then Yahweh H3068 will inherit H5157 Judah H3063 as His portion H2506 in the holy H6944 land H127 and will again H5750 choose H977 Jerusalem H3389.
13 “[fn]Be silent H2013, all H3605 flesh H1320, before H4480 H6440 Yahweh H3068; for He is aroused H5782 from His holy H6944 habitation H4583.”
