Job’s Present State Is Humiliating

1 “But now ^H6258 those ^H6810 who are younger ^H6810 H3117 than ^H4480 I mock ^H7832 me,

Whose ^H834 fathers ^H1 I refused ^H3988 to put ^H7896 with the dogs ^H3611 of my flock ^H6629.

2 “Indeed ^H1571, what ^H4100 good was the strength ^H3581 of their hands ^H3027 to me?

Vigor ^H3624 had perished ^H6 from them.

3 “From poverty ^H2639 and famine ^H3720 they are gaunt ^H1565,

They who gnaw ^H6207 at the dry ^H6723 ground by night ^H570 in waste ^H7722 and desolation ^H4875,

4 Who pluck ^H6998 saltweed ^H4408 by the bushes ^H7880,

And whose food ^H3899 is the root ^H8328 of the broom ^H7574 shrub ^H7574.

5 “They are driven ^H1644 from the community ^H1460;

They shout ^H7321 against ^H5921 them as against a thief ^H1590,

6 So that they live ^H7931 on the slopes ^H6178 of ravines ^H5158,

In holes ^H2356 in the ground ^H6083 and among the rocks ^H3710.

7 “Among ^H996 the bushes ^H7880 they [fn]cry ^H5101 out;

Under ^H8478 the weeds ^H2738 they are gathered ^H5596 together ^H5596.

8 “Worthless ^H5036 [fn]fellows ^H1121, even ^H1571 [fn]those ^H1121 without ^H1097 a name ^H8034,

They were cast ^H5217 out ^H5217 from the land ^H776.

9 “And now ^H6258 I have become ^H1961 their [fn]taunt ^H5058,

And I have become ^H1961 a [fn]byword ^H4405 to them.

10 “They loathe ^H8581 me and stand ^H7368 aloof ^H7368 from me,

And they do not [fn]refrain ^H2820 from spitting ^H7536 in my face ^H6440.

Or ^H518 in his disaster ^H6365 does he not cry ^H7769 out ^H7769 for ^H7769 help ^H7769?

25 “Have I not wept ^H1058 for the [fn]one whose life ^H3117 is hard ^H7186?

Was my soul ^H5315 not grieved ^H5701 for the needy ^H34?
