A Call to Repentance

1 In the eighth ^H8066 month ^H2320 of the second ^H8147 year ^H8141 of Darius ^H1867, the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Zechariah ^H2148 the prophet ^H5030, the son ^H1121 of Berechiah ^H1296, the son ^H1121 of Iddo ^H5714 saying ^H559,

2 “The LORD ^H3068 was ^H7107 very ^H7110 angry ^H7107 with your fathers ^H1. 3 Therefore say ^H559 to them, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559: “Return ^H7725 to Me,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, “[fn]that I may return ^H7725 to you,” says ^H559 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635. 4 “Do not be like your fathers ^H1, to whom ^H834 the former ^H7223 prophets ^H5030 proclaimed ^H7121, saying ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559: “Return ^H7725 now ^H4994 from your evil ^H7451 ways ^H1870 and from your evil ^H7451 deeds ^H4611.”’ But they did not listen ^H8085 or pay ^H7181 attention ^H7181 to Me,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068. 5 “Your fathers ^H1, where ^H346 are they? And the prophets ^H5030, do they live ^H2421 forever ^H5769? 6 But did My words ^H1697 and My statutes ^H2706, which ^H834 I commanded ^H6680 My servants ^H5650 the prophets ^H5030, not [fn]overtake ^H5381 your fathers ^H1? Then they repented ^H7725 and said ^H559, ‘Just ^H834 as ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 planned ^H2161 to do ^H6213 to us in accordance with our ways ^H1870 and our deeds ^H4611, so ^H3651 He has dealt ^H6213 with us.’”’”

Patrol of the Earth

7 On the twenty-fourth ^H6242 H702 day ^H3117 of the eleventh ^H6249 H6240 month ^H2320, that is, the month ^H2320 Shebat ^H7627, in the second ^H8147 year ^H8141 of Darius ^H1867, the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Zechariah ^H2148 the prophet ^H5030, the son ^H1121 of Berechiah ^H1296, the son ^H1121 of Iddo ^H5714, [fn]as follows ^H559:

8 I saw ^H7200 at night ^H3915, and behold ^H2009, a man ^H376 was riding ^H7392 on a red ^H122 horse ^H5483, and he was standing ^H5975 among ^H996 the myrtle ^H1918 trees ^H1918 which ^H834 were in the ravine ^H4699, with red ^H122, [fn]sorrel ^H8320, and white ^H3836 horses ^H5483 behind ^H310 him. 9 Then I said ^H559, “What ^H4100 are these ^H428, my lord ^H113?” And the angel ^H4397 who was speaking ^H1696 with me said ^H559 to me, “I will show ^H7200 you what ^H4100 these ^H428 are.” 10 And the man ^H376 who was standing ^H5975 among ^H996 the myrtle ^H1918 trees ^H1918 responded ^H6030 and said ^H559, “These ^H428 are the ones whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 has sent ^H7971 to [fn]patrol ^H1980 the earth ^H776.” 11 So they responded ^H6030 to the angel ^H4397 of the LORD ^H3068 who was standing ^H5975 among ^H996 the myrtle ^H1918 trees ^H1918 and said ^H559, “We have [fn]patrolled ^H1980 the earth ^H776, and behold ^H2009, all ^H3605 the earth ^H776 is [fn]still ^H3427 and quiet ^H8252.”

12 Then the angel ^H4397 of the LORD ^H3068 said ^H559, “LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, how ^H4970 long ^H5704 H4970 will You take ^H7355 no ^H3808 pity ^H7355 on ^H7355 Jerusalem ^H3389 and the cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063, with which ^H834 You have been ^H2194 indignant ^H2194 for these ^H2088 seventy ^H7657 years ^H8141?” 13 And the LORD ^H3068 responded ^H6030 to the angel ^H4397 who was speaking ^H1696 with me with [fn]gracious ^H2896 words ^H1697, comforting ^H5150 words ^H1697. 14 So the angel ^H4397 who was speaking ^H1696 with me said ^H559 to me, “Proclaim ^H7121, saying ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559: “I am ^H7065 exceedingly ^H1419 jealous ^H7065 for Jerusalem ^H3389 and Zion ^H6726. 15 But I am ^H7107 very ^H1419 H7110 angry ^H7107 with the nations ^H1471 who are carefree ^H7600; for while I was ^H7107 only a little ^H4592 angry ^H7107, they [fn]furthered ^H5826 the disaster ^H7451.” 16 Therefore ^H3651 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559 this ^H3541: “I will return ^H7725 to Jerusalem ^H3389 with compassion ^H7356; My house ^H1004 will be built ^H1129 in it,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, “and a measuring ^H6957 line ^H6957 will be stretched ^H5186 over ^H5921 Jerusalem ^H3389.”’ 17 Again ^H5750, proclaim ^H7121, saying ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559: “My cities ^H5892 will again ^H5750 overflow ^H6327 with prosperity ^H2896, and the LORD ^H3068 will again ^H5750 comfort ^H5162 Zion ^H6726 and again ^H5750 choose ^H977 Jerusalem ^H3389.”’”

18 [fn]Then I raised ^H5375 my eyes ^H5869 and looked ^H7200, and behold ^H2009, there were four ^H702 horns ^H7161. 19 So I said ^H559 to the angel ^H4397 who was speaking ^H1696 with me, “What ^H4100 are these ^H428?” And he said ^H559 to me, “These ^H428 are the horns ^H7161 that have scattered ^H2219 Judah ^H3063, Israel ^H3478, and Jerusalem ^H3389.” 20 Then the LORD ^H3068 showed ^H7200 me four ^H702 craftsmen ^H2796. 21 And I said ^H559, “What ^H4100 are these ^H428 coming ^H935 to do ^H6213?” And he said ^H559, “These ^H428 are the horns ^H7161 that ^H834 have scattered ^H2219 Judah ^H3063 so ^H6310 that ^H6310 no ^H3808 one ^H376 lifts ^H5375 up ^H5375 his head ^H7218; but these ^H428 craftsmen have come ^H935 to frighten ^H2729 them, to throw ^H3034 down ^H3034 the horns ^H7161 of the nations ^H1471 who have lifted ^H5375 up ^H5375 their horns ^H7161 against ^H413 the land ^H776 of Judah ^H3063 in order to scatter ^H2219 it.”
