Persuade:

in the Active Voice, signifies "to apply persuasion, to prevail upon or win over, to persuade," bringing about a change of mind by the influence of reason or moral considerations, e.g., in Mat 27:20; 28:14; Act 13:43; 19:8; in the Passive Voice, "to be persuaded, believe" (see BELIEVE, No. 2, and OBEY), e.g., Luk 16:31; 20:6; Act 17:4; RV (AV, "believed"); 21:14; 26:26; Rom 8:38; 14:14; 15:14; 2Ti 1:5,12; Hbr 6:9; 11:13, in some mss.; Hbr 13:18, RV (AV, "trust").

Persuade:
