Ephratah, or Ephrath:
(fruitful).
(1.) Second wife of Caleb the son of Hezron, mother of Hur and grandmother of Caleb the spy, according to 1 Chronicles 2:19; 2:50 and probably 1 Chronicles 2:24 and 1 Chronicles 4:4 (B.C. 1695)
(2.) The ancient name of Bethlehem‐judah (Genesis 35:16; 35:19; 48:7).
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
