Ituraea:
(land of Jether) a small province on the northwestern border of Palestine, lying along the base of Mount Hermon, only mentioned in Luke 3:1. Jetur the son of Ishmael gave his name like the rest of his brethren, to the little province he colonized (Genesis 25:15-16). It adjoined Trachonitis, and lay along the base of Libanus between Tiberias and Damascus. At the place indicated is situated the modern province of Jedur, which is the Arabic form of the Hebrew Jetur.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
