Tidings:

akin to phemi, "to speak," denotes "information," especially against fraud or other delinquency, and is rendered "tidings" in Act 21:31.

Note: In Act 11:22, AV, logos, "a word, a report" (RV), is rendered "tidings."

Tidings:

is used of any message designed to cheer those who receive it; it is rendered "to bring, declare, preach," or "show good or glad tidings," e.g., Luk 1:19; 2:10; 3:18, RV; Luk 4:43, RV; Luk 7:22, RV; Luk 8:1; Act 8:12; 10:36, RV; Act 14:15, RV; in 1Th 3:6, "brought us glad (AV, good) tidings;" in Hbr 4:2, RV, "we have had good tidings preached;" similarly, Hbr 4:6; in 1Pe 1:25 rhema, "a word," is coupled with this verb, "the word of good tidings which was preached," RV (AV, "the word which by the gospel is preached").
