فَأَرْسَلَ شَاوُلُ رُسُلاً إِلَى بَيْتِ دَاوُدَ لِيُرَاقِبُوهُ وَيَقْتُلُوهُ فِي الصَّبَاحِ. فَأَخْبَرَتْ دَاوُدَ مِيكَالُ امْرَأَتُهُ قَائِلَةً: «إِنْ كُنْتَ لاَ تَنْجُو بِنَفْسِكَ هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ فَإِنَّكَ تُقْتَلُ غَدًا».

فَأَرْسَلَ شَاوُلُ مُرَاقِبِينَ إِلَى بَيْتِ دَاوُدَ يَتَرَصَّدُونَهُ لِيَقْتُلُوهُ فِي الصَّبَاحِ. فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ امْرَأَتُهُ مِيكَالُ قَائِلَةً: «إِذَا لَمْ تَنْجُ بِنَفْسِكَ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ فَإِنَّكَ لَا مَحَالَةَ تُقْتَلُ غَداً».
