The Israelites did just as Joshua had commanded them. The twelve men took stones from the middle of the Jordan, one for each of the Israelite tribes, just as the LORD had told Joshua. They carried them to the camp and set them down there.
So the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 did H6213 exactly H3651 as Joshua H3091 commanded H6680, and took H5375 up H5375 twelve H8147 H6240 stones H68 from the middle H8432 of the Jordan H3383, just H834 as H834 the LORD H3068 spoke H1696 to Joshua H3091, according to the number H4557 of the tribes H7626 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478; and they carried H5674 them over H5674 with them to the encampment H4411 and put H5117 them down H5117 there H8033.
Thus H3651 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 did H6213 as Joshua H3091 commanded H6680 and carried H5375 twelve H8147 H6240 stones H68 from the middle H8432 of the Jordan H3383, just H834 as Yahweh H3068 spoke H1696 to Joshua H3091, according to the number H4557 of the tribes H7626 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478; and they carried H5674 them over H5674 with them to the lodging H4411 place H4411 and laid H5117 them down H5117 there H8033.
So the [twelve men chosen from the] sons of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, just as the LORD had spoken to Joshua; and they carried them over with them to the place where they were spending the night and put them down there.
In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
