Then the Benjaminites realized they had been defeated.
The men of Israel had retreated before Benjamin, because they were confident in the ambush they had set against Gibeah.
So the Benjamites realized that they were defeated. Then men of Israel gave ground to the Benjamites, because they relied on the men in ambush whom they had placed against Gibeah.
وَرَأَى بَنُو بَنْيَامِينَ أَنَّهُمْ قَدِ انْكَسَرُوا. وَأَعْطَى رِجَالُ إِسْرَائِيلَ مَكَانًا لِبَنْيَامِينَ لأَنَّهُمُ اتَّكَلُوا عَلَى الْكَمِينِ الَّذِي وَضَعُوهُ عَلَى جِبْعَةَ.
