فَقَالَ أَبِيشَايُ لِدَاوُدَ: «قَدْ حَبَسَ اللهُ الْيَوْمَ عَدُوَّكَ فِي يَدِكَ. فَدَعْنِيَ الآنَ أَضْرِبْهُ بِالرُّمْحِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ دَفْعَةً وَاحِدَةً وَلاَ أُثَنِّي عَلَيْهِ».

فَقَالَ أَبِيشَايُ لِدَاوُدَ: «لَقَدْ أَوْقَعَ اللهُ الْيَوْمَ عَدُوَّكَ فِي قَبْضَةِ يَدِكَ، فَدَعْنِي الآنَ أَطْعَنُهُ بِرُمْحِهِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ، فَأُجْهِزَ عَلَيْهِ بِضَرْبَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ».
